HIGH STANDARD CRUSADER COMPACT 1911 45 ACP - Blue/Black, 3.5" Barrel, 7+1 Rounds, Wood Grips

While the gu n was great, shot well, too heavy for daily carry. Traded in for a Shield 9mm by S&W.

I bought this gun from Buds' a couple of weeks ago. I took it to an indoor range and ran 50 rounds of Blazer Brass brand shells through it, then 50 rounds of cheap WPA brand shells through it. Not one instance of FTF or FTE. The gun is very nice for a cheap 1911 compact! I got this for conceal/carry, and it fits great IWP in the appendix position. The only thing is there is no manual with it. I couldn't figure out how to get the recoil spring and bushing out of it. I found the answer on a gun blog forum which involves a paper clip bent to 90 degree at one end, about 1/8th" long. Pull the slide back and lock it in the open position. Put the bent end of the paper clip in a small hole located in the guide rod under the barrel. With the paper clip in the guide rod hole you can take off the safety, then remove the slide as you do all 1911s'. The guide rod and bushing can then be removed with no issues. Once again, great little gun for a great price!

good quality for the price 500 rounds no faults or feed

A couple of things first. Buds guns rocks and I have never been a fan of parkerized guns, untill now. This little pistol was such a good deal I had to order it. It came as a nice surprise. It is identical to the Citadel, trigger and all. It comes through Pahrump Nevada, as does the Citadel. So it comes smothered in oil. I cleaned it and it looked as every other parked gun does, kind of ugly/cool. The slide is black and the frame is vintage super dark green, the whole pistol was dull. However at the range ,it suprised me with how well it performed. It was accurate and ate up fmj and hollow points. Still didn't like how it looks. Then an old buddy of mine told me an ancient navy secret. Coat it in vasoline and bake it like a cake. I figuring I couldn't hurt the looks any so I tried it. I coated it ,put it on a cookie sheet and started at 200 degrees for an hour, smothered some more vas on it and turned it up to 300 for an hour. I took it out, let it cool and wiped it down and by god if this thing doesn't look like a million bucks. It has a satin, brushed black steele look. It darkened up a bit but still has a slight greenish tint on the lower. Now I wipe it with a slightly lubed cloth when I'm done and it stays amazing looking. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I received the High Standard 45 crusader on time. More than what I expected. I haven't fired it yet due to al the rain we have had in the past couple of weeks. But I'm planning on going to the range this weekend. Planning on replacing sights for trijicons night sights, which these sight are dovetail sights fornt and back so it will be easy to work with. The rear sights have dots but they are black and the front is black so with my eyes hard to see. I did put white model paint on the dots on reasights and a dot on front sight so I can see them. The hand grips are real wood, which surprised me, I was expecting plastic, so I'm not changing these. It did come with one magazine, so I ordered anoter 7 rd magazine which works good. I did disassembled it and cleaned the excess oil off it. It was simple to disassemble and reassemble, but you do have to a paper clip in the hole thats in the guide rod, just like the youtube videos, but once you get the paper clip in the hole on the guide rod it disassemble real easy. Reassemble just as easy. Very satisfied. I will post another review as soon as I shoot some rounds.
