Colt gov't super38 blued. Finish is heavily blasted, finish is very even and nicely done. Read a review on here that said they wiped it off, what were you wiping it with? Nice sights, actually the trigger is fit pretty good for a production piece. Internals show some hand fitting, sear spring, extractor, sear & hammer hooks. It all produced a creep free 4.5lb pull. Thumb safety is not very crisp, but I will fix that easy enough. Also the hammer strut pin was not staked. Rather than whinw about it, I simply staked it. No issues. I'm not a fan of the grips, but again no worries, I'll just put on some I like better. Comes with 2 quality stainless metalform mags. All and all I think its a very good deal for a carbon steel gov't 1911, and yes, I'm a big Colt fan. I just haven't seen all the bad issues the non fan boys always refer to. I can't always get the good ones, can !? Anyway, good pistol, good deal, good performance from Buds Guns. I couldn't be happier. Oh yeah, runs good as well. Get ya one of the carbon steel super 38 before only the stainless ones are left. Not that there's a thing wrong with the stainless versions at all, I just prefer carbon steel.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a colt competition 1911in 38 super from buds. I love it! Fit and finish was great. Buying from buds was a great experience as well. I'll be buying from buds again in the future!

I love the gun the only problem I found with the gun is that the magazines That came with the gun will not go into the gun without pressing the Magazine release button,I'm sending the gun back to colt to see if they Can fix the problem I bought some aftermarket mags in they work fine. I hate that when I saw the gun,it was 813.00,then I bought the gun the Jump to 877,now it's 868

didnt research this firearm at all i was simply looking for a blued .38 super and a brand that hasnt disappointed. once again Colt pulls theough this pistol is awesome and nice and tight includind its groups. got a little over 300 shots and no issues and shoots very very well with the dual springs recoil feels great !! with the national match barrel it shoots tight groups and persistant. with the g10 grips it has a real good feel in the hand shot after shot. magazine catch is a little rough but tolerable. comes with novak sights which are great just small tweaks after few shots and you are set. comes with extra front fiber sights and 2 stainless magazines which havent had issues with. everything is great with this purchase. shipped quickly and gun was perfect thanks buds ill be coming back for more. i highly recommend this pistol shoots great out of the box after cleaning it and oil it up, its good to go.

I own and shoot many 1911s but I’ve always been a Colt guy. The Colt Competition Pistol has shown me that the quality and craftsmanship is still the best in my opinion. I put over 300 rounds through this with all sorts of hollow points and bullet weights from several manufacturers (Double Tap,Federal,Sig,Buffalo Bore) and did not have a single malfunction. The accuracy with all loads was excellent. It is now my primary carry gun. It is out of the box a great gun.

Have for a long time wanted a Colt 1911 in 38 super. Buds had the best price I could find, and, you must factor in no sales tax and free shipping. Received the gun in 9 or 10 days at my FFL along with 2 boxes of Aguila 130 gr. fmj. also from Buds. Have fired approx. 100 rounds total thru it so far, 50 Aguila and 50 Win. 130 gr. fmj. Gun fires either round without concern and have had no issues. Gun looks and functions as expected and is a fine piece. Next step is to gather a set of dies and other reloading components for 38 super.

I've got about 500 rounds through this Colt with only a hand full of FTF with hollow points into a dirty chamber. Ball ammo has been flawless. The trigger out of the box broke crisp at 4 1/2 pounds, but the over travel needed adjusting. The Novak sights are stellar, with only some fine tuning needed. I found the red fiber optic insert blindingly bright in full sun, with the green insert the best for me. The blue one is so dark it's almost useless. Both magazines needed a little tweaking with some needle nose pliers, as they were both jamming the slide release so hard that the slide and mag both wouldn't release. Bent the magazine's release lip down just a touch and they ran like a champ! And as usual, Bud's service is second to none!

My Colt Competition 38 Super Slide to Frame Fit was Very Tight. Firearm was Extremely Accurate with Numerous different kinds of Ammo. No failures of Any Kind. Shot 250 rounds in one session.
