I received my Series 70 Colt 1911 in early April of this year. The 1911 is a "must-have", "bucket-list" pistol for me. Not just because it should be, but because I actually used and carried one on occasion when I was in the Army. I actually had qualified with one. I wanted to get one that was as close to the M1911A1 I had in 69-70 and the Series 70 is as close as it gets in a new 1911. The only parts that are not correct are the sights (I replaced the stocks with correct GI brown nylon stocks and a correct Colt curved MSH with lanyard loop I found on eBay). But the real joy in owning this pistol is firing it at the range. With the design of the trigger system and not having the firing pin safety mechanisms, it is the easiest shooting pistol imaginable. I have had family and friends fire the pistol and every one of them have been on target within the first 2 rounds. It's as close to cheating as you can get. My Colt is flawless, beautifully and faithfully engineered and executed to honor John Browning and everyone who ever held one in their hand in service to our country. What a privilege and joy to own this firearm.

This is the first time that I have ordered a firearm on line. Steven was very helpful and talked me through it, I am quite satisfied with the overall results. The Colt 1911 was in perfect condition.

"PERFECT" my first buy with Buds. I used the lay-a-way plain and everything went as they stated. My Colt 1911 series 70 was flawless! pistol, box and paper work in mint condition. The finish and operation smooth... Also the best price I could find online. I will be back to buy again from Buds. If you want a pre-80's Colt, this is a great one to get "while still available". This pistol is the new 70's series without the finger barrel bushing that was discontinued by Colt. This is just the series I wanted.
Thanks Buds, for a great buy and pistol!

It took a couple of weeks fir it to arrive at my LGS. I understand it's the Holidays, (Merry Christmas) and I know that these guys are busy. That said, the gun is very nice, not a Royal Colt blue by any means, but nicely done. Unpacked it, degreased it, and put on a set of faux-ivory grips with both of my previous military organizations, one on each side of the grips. Looks really nice. I had always wanted the 1911 that I was issued in 1971. Exceot that it's not parkerized, and doesn't rattle, it's mighty close. The arched MSH and short trigger feel great. I will be the range safety officer at our shooting club tomorrow, and if I have the time I intend to give it it's first workout. The trigger is not quite as good as my Kimber Eclipse Ultra, but I can live with it. If not, that's what Cylinder and Slide is for. All in all, I'm quite pleased. I'm giving it a 4 only because it took a while to get it. Buds is great, if I'm looking for a new firearm, I will always go to Buds first.

I had read the previous reviews and had some concerns, but the example I received was flawless! Tight and smooth,Great Trigger! Deep rich beautiful polished blue and the roll marks were straight, legible and evenly well struck. This is a Beautiful Pistol! Highly recommended.

I am a late 60's early 70's Army veteran. I wanted a no-frills Mil-spec 1911 like the ones we used to carry. After checking everything else out there, this Colt was the obvious choice--and it exceeds all my expectations. Finish is great--nice even bluing. Roll marks are crisp and even. The quality of the build is excellent--great slide to frame fit, racks smooth as glass, absolutely no rattles, nice quality rich rosewood grips. After an initial clean and lube, took it to the range and put 100 rounds through failures at all...accuracy much better than expected, it shoots better than I can. Trigger is crisp. Love the arched mainspring housing and short trigger--just works and points better for me. Certainly not my first or only 1911, but with the nostalgia factor added-in, could easily become my favorite. And, I don't intend to change a thing. Buds was great, as always. The gun arrived at my FFL in pristine condition. My advice is, if you're looking for a Mil-spec 1911 made the way it's supposed to be that will last for generations, go for this Series 70 Colt--you won't be disappointed!

I just received my new Colt 70 Series today . The fit & finish is very good . The roll mark were very legible on my Colt . I almost didn't buy this pistol because of the review here about the shallow roll marks . Mine looked great.

The only appearance gripes I have are , the hammer has a noticeable stain on the left side and the mags feel a little cheap and there was a small spot on both mags with no bluing .

If you want to get your gun fast don't pay with a check . I used the echeck option to pay and it took a week to clear . Once it cleared , I received my pistol in 6 days .

I gave it 4 stars because of the hammer stain , mags and long wait time .

I would buy again and maybe even another Colt 70 Series in the future .

Received my Colt O1970A1CS Series 70 and have no issues with what so ever. The finish and roll marks are perfect.

I'm not sure about the folks that gave it a one star rating......maybe they think Colt = Ed Brown?

Anyway, I picked this one up from my FFL on 2/22/15, and there isn't anything wrong with it. Roll marks are perfect, trigger is good for a standard 70 Series, barrel fit is very tight and slide/frame fit is typical Colt....a little bit of side to side play, and there's a good reason for that - 9.5 out of 10.

I would have given it a perfect '10', but the bluing leaves a little to be desired. But I don't think you will ever see the Royal Blue from the old days on any production gun.

I wanted a 1911 and I wanted it to be as true to the original as possible, so I chose the Colt Series 70 after much research and thought, What I received was a bit of a disappointment. The roll marks on the slide are not even, they start off nice and clear and fade out to almost nothing at the end of the marking to the point they're nearly illegible. There was a scratch on the slide near the muzzle that, while not incredibly noticeable, should not be on a brand-new pistol. The biggest issue I have with the pistol is the slide stop will not go back into the pistol and the pistol is now un-usable. When disassembling the pistol for the first time to clean the packing oil off the pistol, the slide stop went about halfway into the frame and stopped. I don't know if the slide stop is bent, there's something in the frame causing the slide stop to stick, or the barrel link is misaligned, but I now have to send my brand new pistol to Colt for a warranty repair before it's even been fired. After spending this much money on the pistol, to say I am upset, angry and disappointed would be an understatement. At least Bud's stepped up and got me a pre-paid shipping label to return it to Colt, so I'm happy with Bud's customer service.
