A very fine weapon that is totally worth the money. I was going to customize my SR1911 but the costs were exceeding the cost of a new upper mid-range pistol. So I looked at the TRP and this 1911 at a Gun Show. The LDD has everything the TRP has except for the front strap checkering and full length guide rod. I found the TRP's front strap checkering too severe and with my experience shooting 45 ACP, I could only imagine what the cheese grater effect could be like on my hand. I also was aware of the full guide rod take down procedure involved with that particular pistol. Having purchased a Springfield Armory Champion Operator and trading it for the SR1911, I preferred the take down with the GI style guide rod and recoil spring on the Ruger. The tight tolerances on this pistol make the first disassembly a mother but after three hundred rounds it was much easier. With that note, this pistol is finicky with 1911 magazines due to those tolerances. It will not work with my Wilson Combat magazines. You should go to the Springfield Store webpage and look up the stainless steel 8 round 1911 magazine (PI6074). If your current magazine followers do not look like that one, then your slide will not lock back. I found this really annoying because if I knew this, I would have sold my Wilson Combat mags with my Ruger (BTW, a very good series 70 pistol). The good news is that the P16074 mags are Mec-Gar and can be bought for less than the Springfield Armory Web Store price. Oh well, in the end I got a superb pistol that has ended my quest for a custom 1911 with all the desired bells and whistles.

This is the 5th or 6th Springfield Armory pistol I have purchased as well as a few M1As. As with all of my SA 1911s the fit and finish of the gun is excellent, there is no play in the slide, the magazines seat and lock in positively and the trigger is crisp and breaks cleanly. I haven't been to the range with it yet but, if it performs like my other SA 1911s, I won't have anything to gripe about. The combination of features on the SA Loaded 1911s makes them a great value for me, especially since I'm left-handed and I don't have to install an ambidextrous safety after the purchase like I do with some Kimbers, Colts, etc. (Don't get me wrong, I like them too- It's just one less thing to deal with when I buy the SAs- LOL!!!)
