Is this gun about the same size as the 40 caliber model? If not, how much bigger is it? Is the grip going to be longer than the 40 sw?

They are similar in size Matthias. The 40S&W is Height: 5.5" - Length: 7.3" - Grip Width: 1.20" and Weight (with Empty Magazine): 27.5 ozs. The 45ACP is Height 5.75" - Overall length 7.3" - Grip Width: 1.20" and Weight 30 oz (with Empty magazine).

the 45 is just a little Taller ( 5.75 inches to 5.5 inches ) and heavier (30 ozs to 27.5 oz)

Is the wight of 20oz correct on this firearm? All other spring fields this size are in 29-30oz

What does the G in the description signify?

The "G" on this pistol means it has the "Grip Zone" Texture. It is equipped with the new GripZone that applies ergonomic science to the areas you normally touch when gripping. The pistol also features a re-contoured, slimmer frame and slide that is only 2 tenths of an inch thicker than most single stack configurations but twice the magazine capacity.

I believe the G is from the model # XDG9445FDEHCE. Perhaps it refers to Grip Zone.

Nice gun, recoil is very mild, feeds everything without a hiccup. The only con I can think of is it is very hard to rack the slide on a full mag (13 rounds) . Those mags should be 12 plus 1, not 13 plus one.

Finally had a chance to take tue mod 2 .45 to the range and it was GREAT. No failures of any kind in the 200 rounds so far and grouped almost as well as my PPQ. Not bad Springfield, not bad at all! And of course Buds was awesome as usual thanks buds! I've just received the mod 2 in 9mm and will review soon. I hope its as good as the .45!

The Springfield XDG is a great handgun and at this price it's hard to beat. Comes with the Springfield Armory case with three magazines. The typical 5 star rating. Buds Gun Shop is very easy to deal with and it was a very smooth FFL transaction. Happy Shooting!!!

Finally had the chance to go to the range with this gun. This gun needs no "break-in" period. Shot 150 rounds of 2 different types of ammo thru it with no problem whatsoever. Great 45acp handgun. If you're thinking about getting one of these, do it. For this price, currently $395.52, it's a steal.

Bud's was super fast in shipping the firearm to my FFL!! Bud's is the best!! I went to the range and fired 350+ rounds down-range. No failures or problems!! I love the ergonomics of the firearm and having the fiber-optic front site made it easy to acquire and reacquire the target's point of aim. I had really tight groups of three which exceeded my expectations that I would shoot. I'm extremely impressed with the Springfield Armory's XD .45acp Mod 2 firearm. Overall, it has exceeded my expectations for craftsmanship and quality and value!! Hit a home run with this purchase.. Thank you Bud's and Thank you Springfield.
