This pistol was not for me. Extremely sharp edges everywhere, this gun drew blood on multiple occasions. It wasn’t fun to shoot or comfortable to hold. It ran fine but Sig should have rounded some edges off.

I have contracted 1911 fever, added the Sig and it is very similar to my Colt gold cup. Great looking weapon, great finish and balance. Buds great price fast shipping flawless transaction.

I was finally able to get to the range and I am mostly happy with this pistol. It functions flawlessly and groups tightly with ball ammo, which is mostly what I use. Both of the supplied magazines feed perfectly and hold open after the last shot, and the gun is equally reliable with Wilson, Novaks, and even some '70s GI contract mags with Wilson conversion follower & spring kits (these mags were total non-functional junk as delivered to Uncle). The gun was nicely finished and fitted, but the trigger was terrible as delivered. The primary problem turned out to be two burrs in the firing pin safety plunger bore, making the FP plunger sticky. Scratches on the O.D. of the plunger were distinctly visible when I took it apart. It was a challenge to get the burrs gone. The other trigger issue was due to gritty trigger bow fit to the slots in the frame. Light lube and about 1000 trigger pulls worked it out nicely. Now the pull is quite light with a very crisp consistent release. You would not know that this is a FP safety 1911 by the feel of the trigger. The only thing I do not like about this Sig is the hammer spur. It is too small and too close to the rear sight leaf to reliably let the hammer down manually - or to use to cock it for that matter. Look out!! It uses the same pointy shape as the hammer spur on my P938 SAS - it is the only thing I dislike about that gun, which does not have the sight clearance problem.. I definitely recommend this model for purchase. I'm sure most buyers will not have the FP safety burr problems that this one did. And hopefully Sig will start using a safer hammer design. The drawings for this style should be torn up and forgotten forever...

The Sig Sauer 1911 Match Elite in 45ACP is an excellent value. It comes stock with almost everything I was looking for in a competition/range gun at a great price from Bud's. The only changes I made were to add a fiber optic front sight and some G-10 grips (which I already had). Through almost 400 rounds, it has performed with no stoppages. I gave it only four stars because when I got it, the trigger pull was about 6.2 lbs and gritty. I had my local gunsmith look it over and he had to remove a small burr that was dragging on the trigger bar. After that, the trigger has been very smooth with a nice reset. The pull weight is about 4.75 lbs. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. Bud's once again provided great service and a great price.

So Bud's ran a quick sale on this thing and I picked it up for around $780, I've been looking for a decent 1911 for a while now so the timing worked out well. Once I got it in my hands I broke it down to clean & inspect it and this thing is very nice, as you'd expect from Sig. The machining was super clean; everything fit together very nicely especially the barrel bushing which earns you some good accuracy, which brings me to the range test. It was a quick trip to the range; 50rds of Winchester white box and it ran flawlessly with both the factory mags and the two Chip McCormick mags that I have. The rear sight is easy to adjust and I was hitting the inner rings consistently after the second mag and I'm only moderately experienced. Overall I'm looking forward to getting out to the range for some more range time but my initial impression is that Sig is making a very nice gun for the money.

I put 150 rounds through this gun the day after I picked it up from my FFL. I had a couple failures to feed the first round from Wilson 47D magazines, so I don't think Wilsons are going to work in this one. The stock magazines did not have the same problem, so I'll likely order more from Sig. I did a little testing when I got home and noticed the feed lip design of the stock magazines is the "hybrid" design that Colt uses. They hold the top round at a steeper angle than the wadcutter feed lips of the Wilson magazines. This puts the cartridge in a better position to feed reliably into the chamber. The fit and finish are of the usual high quality from Sig Sauer. I added an Ed Brown magwell and Dawson Precision front sight as the gun is going to be used for USPSA Single Stack division. So far I'm pleased. A little more testing of magazines to make sure it's 100% reliable and I think we've got a winner.

Like all Sig Sauer 1911s, this one is beautifully finished, with a light & crisp 3.5 lb trigger pull. I added a Smith & Alexander stainless magwell & VZ Rosewood magwell grips to make this an even more beautiful shooter. I woulod rank Sig Sauer as my favorite "out of the box" excellent shooters, with little needing to be done. The triggers are among the best tuned of all factory 1911s on the market, along with Rock Island, which also have very nice "out of the box" triggers (excellent value 1911s). Add this one to your 1911 collection and you won't be sorry. I would like to see Sig put on adjustable target night sights on this instead of just the front sight being tritium.
