Love this gun! It’s my everyday pack around gun. It’s fun and easy to shoot. I carry mine hiking all the time. I’ve put over 100 miles of hiking with this thing on my hip and it never has bothered me at all. Would recommend to anyone.

Meh... it is what it is. Semi auto pistols are finicky, it's a fun little pee shooter

Great little 22 plinker, the pins do tend to walk out after a while so be ready with the roll pin punch and a soft hammer after about 200 rounds

The factory mags delivered with the pistol fall out immediately after insertion. It's not a matter of amateur-hour; we have dozens of pistols and know how to load them. A little online digging reveals that bad mag catches are a known issue with the M&P 22, and it requires factory service. The thing is, this has been an issue for about two years and they are still sending them out. Oof. We got some rounds off - someone on the internet suggested torquing the mag int he well a certain way it it kinda works.
Ignoring the mag issue, the pistol is a bit light and feels toyish compared to the Ruger SR-22 we also bought from Buds at the same time. So we got two pistols the same day, and the SR-22 is really worth more than the extra $100 or so it cost. Night and day. The Ruger just feels more substantial and better constructed. We enjoyed the Ruger a lot more than the S&W, but that's largely subjective. It is worth nothing that the M&P should not be dry-fired, which makes it more troublesome for teaching new shooters; we have a hobby minting new shooters as often as we can. This was the reason we bought these .22 guns.
We will enjoy the M&P (eventually, when it is fixed). It's rare we don't find ways to enjoy any pistol. But if you are in the market for a .22lr pistol, we highly suggest you look at the SR-22.
