I received my SD40 in July, and absolutely love it. No FTF/FTE whatsoever. I even used this to qualify during the live fire portion of my conceal carry class. Excellent firearm.

I have owned this gun for 1 yr now and have fired around 4,000 rnds through it, only had around five misfires and only with steel case ammo. Love this gun and would recommend it to anyone whop is looking for a solid gun with a lifetime warranty.

Another smooth transaction from Buds and the best deal on the planet. After handling them all- Sig/Glock/Beretta etc.. this .40 S&W took the prize and did not disappoint. Ran a bore snake thru her and then a box of Winny White 165gr FMJ along with Hornandy 165gr JHP & Federal 135gr JHP just to test out. Flawless. Gun handles great, and front night sight is awesome. Only minor complaint is the magazine 'rattle' when stacked full 14 strong, tried both mags.

Following up after sending this pistol back to S&W.

S&W replaced the barrel. Shipping was free. Quick turnaround but
I had to ask for a tracking number so someone could be at home to
accept and sign for delivery.
As others have stated, this pistol shoots low. I may end up replacing the
front sight to address this issue. Makes you wonder how accurate S&W
cares for these SD's to be. Maybe that's just it; it hits paper so it qualifies
as Self Defense!

NOTE: The trigger reset is three times the length of the M&P.

** I should have saved up a little more and purchased the M&P. They shoot
very nice groups and the quality is much better.

For the price you pay for this pistol it's worth it. Don't be surprised
if it's not as accurate as other handguns in the 4-5 inch range.
It's not as "tight" as the M&P but I like the break-down much better
than the M&P.
The fit and feel in the hand is very nice and comfortable. Mags load
tight, drop out fast and you get two of them with the pistol.
I've got one issue with spent brass and it appears that the test cartridge
that comes with the pistol has the same bulge in it, just above the webbing,
and turns out on the bottom side of each spent cartridge. My concern is the
reuse of said spent cartridges. I do enjoy handloading and it does save money.
I've never seen this type of bulge before in a pistol cartridge. All fired rounds
ejected well, no problems there.
It appears to me that the person that polished the feed ramp took the polishing
wheel to far inside the chamber and left this impression, thus giving the fired
cases room to grow out in this one area at the bottom of the chamber area.
Other than that the SD works.
Would I buy another one? NOT if they all exibit this kind of quality work...
Did I contact S&W about the issue I see? YES. So now we wait and see what they say.

Great Gun at a Great Price. Fast Shipping, went to shoot the gun the same day i got it and it shot flawlessly. I thought the gun was going to come with a hard case, but it didn't it came in cardboard box. I give Buds a 10 out of 10, I will most definitely order from Buds again soon.

My dealings with Buds is probably somewhat unusual compared to most customers. I ordered the $386 SD40 on Friday, April 08. I used the ACH method of paying, as it saved me about $10. Even though this is a direct debit transaction, it still takes about 4 business days for the money to arrive in Buds account. I don't understand why this is with the light speed way my account was debited. Must be the Payment Gateway sitting on their money for a few days. At any rate the order progressed and by Wednesday, April 13th, I discovered the Buds Police Supply banner while checking my order. To my surprise, the same gun from their Police side was priced at $320. Needless to say, I contacted the Gun Shop side and sent a CANCEL notice along with an inquiry, asking if I could simply shift the funds to the Police side. I was really thinking how low I was going to feel if I spent $66 more than I had to! Fortunately for me, Matt at the Gun Shop side let me know how to fix this situation. I rapidly ordered the SD40 on the Police Upply site and sent the order number to Matt. Within the next two days, Matt and the folks at the Gun Shop contacted the Police Supply shop, got my original order canceled, and started the complete refund process. That money is back in my account, I picked up the gun from my FFL dealer on April 19th in perfect condition and I am a happy Buds customer. There are many other online stores that would not have been so helpful and accommodating. Hat tip to both of Buds shops! As for the SD40 itself, it meets my expectations for a medium-priced defense/carry gun. This weekend is going to be fun for me.

Thanks Buds! You will get good recommendations from me to all of my gun toting friends!

Buds was quick to ship and great to work with. I have not fired the weapon yet as I have noticed the frame is warped. I've taken pictures of the weapon and send an email to S&W support to find out what I should do next. I do not blame Buds for this at all. As I said, they were great to work with and answered all of my questions.

This is in part my own fault, when I received the gun my inspection was lacking. I simply checked the slide and trigger and it worked fine. I did not notice that the frame was slightly warped until I was home, breaking down the weapon. Trigger and slide work fine, but I am concerned that the curvature will cause undo wear and tear. We'll see how S&W responds to my query... they may just say it's fine, shoot with it. (I have not fired it yet, just in case).

Other than that, the weapon feels good in my hand, is easy to strip, and the trigger pull does not feel too heavy or gritty to me. Then again, I am coming from a .22 and a .38 revolver so what do I know.
