What a great plinker. Very easy to use. Quality construction accompanied by great pricing. Target shooting is so enjoyable with this gun.

Sadly, the least reliable Ruger I've ever owned. This pistol has been in the case for years now while I wait to find the interest to tear into it again, or drop it on a local gunsmith. Jams and feed failures with every magazine on several different brands of ammunition. Nice hand feel and layout, but sadly, I can't trust it to function so I can't recommend it.

I love the Ruger Mark target pistol, and have been shooting them for at least 40 years. This caught my eye as the 1911 similarities. For me it just didn,t work. It is not a 1911, and not a Mark target pistol. The grip angle felt very "off" to me. It still has the Ruger quality and is a very good gun. It fed all ammo well, but like many guns the CCI gave a tighter group. I recommend this gun to a new shooter as it is high quality gun. But if your seasoned it may have the same weird grip feeling. I only give it four stars because of this. based on price and quality it is a 5 star gun.

Lot of loading and extracting problems. Used many different brands of ammo, problem remains. Would not recommend this weapon..

This pistol is a piece of junk and not worth the time, effort, or money required to purchase or deal with it. I bought this pistol with the intention of using it as an "everyday" shooter. Before I shot the pistol, I disassmbled it and cleaned it carefully. I lubricated all movement surfaces and wiped away any excess oil. The first time I loaded the pistol, I noticed that the magazines failed to seat completely. I had five FTF's (failure to feed) from the first magazine. On the second magazine I had four FTF's Over approximately 50 rounds, the results were the same with each magazine. I disassembled the pistol and cleaned it again. I, then, fired another 500 rounds through it. I varied the rounds, firing a variety of High Velocity rounds. The results were always the same. The magazines failed to seat completely, and, as a consequence, the pistol failed to feed rounds properly. I contacted Ruger Customer service who told me to clean the pistol and fire more rounds through it. "duh". I did so. After approximately 1000 rounds, the result was the same. Approximately 40 per cent of the rounds failed to feed. Another cleaning (and yes, each time I swabbed the ramp and inspected it for any imperfections....there were none) and another 1000 rounds.............and you guessed it.....NO IMPROVEMENT_ Now, in fairness, if I hold the magazine in place with my left hand.........the pistol will cycle through a complete magazine. However, this has a dire impact on accuracy. (I am the kind of guy who dislikes hits in the 8 ring) I, again, contacted Ruger Customer service. I was given a phone number to call to request a return of the pistol for repair. I called the number...........and was connected to a Customer Service Represenative. His voice inflection and attitude made it obvious that I was bothering him and that he had no interest in helping me resolve the problem with this pistol. Ultimately, he told me that he would email me information to return the pistol for repair. No email was forthcoming. I own or have owned about every brand of pistol ever made. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS LEVEL OF FAILURE WITH ANY PISTOL.....NEVER. The idea that a brand new pistol would not feed ammunition consistently and without failure is absolutely unbelievable and totally unacceptable. The fact that an American Company would foist this kind of junk on the consumer is reprehensible. I have always wanted to own a Ruger. I have Smiths, Colts, Sigs, Glocks, Walthers, Berettas.......you name it.......but, I always wanted a Ruger. This was my first Ruger. I don't want a Ruger any more.

As always Buds provides an excellent service. I was looking for a full size .22 pistol as a cheaper range pistol. This same model was advertised on sale at a local shop but I had missed the sale price by a week. Buds prices cant be beat and I am always pleased with their service. Ordered this gun on Saturday and it arrived this morning. Cant wait to shoot it. I own other Rugers and have never had a complaint.

Shot 600 rounds of federal hollow points and round nose through it between myself and my girlfriend right out of the box. Had only 1 FTF all day and just 2 FTE but it was on the first two magazines. No more FTE after the first two mags. Both my girlfriend and I enjoy shooting the gun. One thing we noticed is that if you limp-wrist the gun it will often not cycle another round. My girlfriend kept having issues with this but after I told her to brace the gun more solidly she had no further issues. Thanks Buds!

First order of business: THE SERVICE. When I bought this gun a few months ago, it was my first dealing with Bud's. I was well satisfied with the service, the condition of the gun immaculate, and the overall experience was a pleasure. Do yourselves a favor though: make sure you have a decent and reliable FFL lined up for the transfer. The people I used out here in the middle of Nowhere, KS were pitiful, although they at least were capable of completing the transfer after much hassle on my end. This does NOT reflect on Bud's, who lived up to their end of the bargain above and beyond all expectations that I had. Excellent communication, good pricing, and the ability to check the status of your gun from the second you order it until it is in the hands of the transfer agent. KUDOS, BUD'S!! Second order of business: THE PISTOL ITSELF. What can one really say? It's a Ruger, so it is a tank. The finish on the metal parts is spectacular and without a single blemish. There is little to say about the polymer finish on the receiver, except that it's a polymer gun, and it looks like one. The action was smooth, and has become more refined over the last few months of semi-regular shooting (maybe 1000 rounds thus far). The trigger is very nice for such an inexpensive pistol, and the sights are easy enough to work with; even though they are black-on-black. The accuracy I can obtain is outstanding, and this weapon can easily keyhole several shots with iron sights and a standing freehand stance at 25 yds. Overall, I am very pleased with the pistol. It is everything I expected, and nothing that I did not. Even though it's a poly frame, it is as reliable and functionally flawless as any other Ruger I've ever fired; with the only failures being ammunition failures. Here are a few things about the weapon that you need to know, however. First, do not buy this gun looking for a 1911 trainer. This pistol is NOT a trainer for Mr. Browning's masterpiece, nor was it designed to be. The grip profile is similar, but much more narrow than the 1911, as well as the thumb safety being similar only in placement and movement. The weapon does not feel, balance, or shoot like any 1911, and should be treated as the utterly different creature that it is. Second, my particular 22/45 does NOT drop magazines free when the release is used. Every magazine, including a few extras bought from the good folks at Ruger, absolutely REFUSE to let go of the magazine channel until they are manually stripped free. Third, while the sights are pretty good, they are not "hi-viz," or anything of the like. These are black-on-black target sights (i.e., the old "fence-post"), and are not fiber-optic or even dotted sights like one may expect on a target pistol. These are not flaws, but points that NEED to be addressed in the interest in fairness. Overall, the service from Bud's was outstanding, and the pistol itself is very high quality for the price; worth every penny. If you're looking for a semi-auto plinker or target pistol in a small caliber, look no further. You will NOT be disappointed with this pistol.

Just picked up my pistol today, and ran 100 rounds through it. There were no problems, and the pistol shot accurate 1.5" groups at 15 yards. Suggest anyone interested also pick up an UltimateLoader -- it makes this enjoyable gun even more fun to shoot. My only complaint is reassembly is a bit tricky. It took about 3 hours to figure out the trick, and that was after reading the manual and watching a bunch of youtube videos. The trick is at the very last step -- you have to make sure that plastic pin (it rides under the hammer) seats correctly when you turn the gun upside down. (Can't make this stuff up!) The pistol comes with a nice case, two magazines, a scope rail (uninstalled), and a humongous lock that goes through the bolt in the back. All in all a nice little gun for the price, and 100 rounds of 22LR is much cheaper that 100 rounds of .40cal!
