Gun is awesome, trigger is extremely light and smooth, everything has a tight fit feel, no nasty mill markings, extremely clean. However the magazine that comes with it is pathetic. Multiple ftf on the last round, pushed 150 rounds through the gun and the only issues were with the original mag about every second to third mag would ftf on the last round and once with a second to last round. I could immediately tell the mag quality was poor when the 8th round was easier to put in than the first round on my friends mag, (either ACT or it was a sig, not sure). Upon purchasing this gun get better mags, it\'s still a great deal even with forking over $40 for 2 quality mags.

This has been my "trainer" for the 1911 platform. I put wooden handles on it to give it a more attractive look. I've field stripped it 50 times, and lube it with Militech, a dry lube, heated with a hot hairdryer. Since I've broken it in, it is 100% reliable. The "blueing" is a little worn, and I've added some idiot scratches of my own. In short, I've learned to love this gun. I carried a 1911 in the military, and now understand what an icon this is. After shooting it, tighten sights and grips. You'll like this gun.

This is my 5th handgun from Buds very clean and nice to shoot. I usually allow 50 rounds before logging any problems. This pistol did not have any problems no failure to feed, no failure to eject, or any stove pipes. Used army 230 grain ball ammo to loosen up the slide, very successful day at the range When I cleaned the pistol I used my micrometer to measure the frame rails and the slide these were within .001 tolerances, used a feeler gauge to measure the frame rail gaps to ensure that they were also in specs everything measured out all within tolerance I did notice some sloppy machining on the upper part of the frame where the hammer fits into the frame ,some light stoning with a Brownells hammer stone cleaned the marks right up and since it did not create any firing difficulties so be it. This is considered one of the nicest 1911s that I own,no matter what the cost most 1911s will always need some loving care to always come though when you pull the trigger. I have 6 of them and I will never buy anything else. From a custom Caspian 1911 to a Girsan 1911. The 1911-45ACP is the only handgun that special ops still use.

Great entry level 1911. I've run about 500 rounds through it, no problems whatsoever.

Received from FFL and cleaned thoroughly, lubed with FrogLube. range session with 230 gr FMJ resulted in roughly 1 FTE/FTL per 8rd magazine. Put 150 rounds through for breaking in. Not happy with results.
Cleaned again thoroughly, this time oiled with Ballistol, 2nd rage session, again with 230 gr FMJ showed still the same results, lots of FTE's and FTL's, sometime a mag went through without problems, but still heavily unreliable.Used original Taurus mags which came with the gun. Put again 150 rounds through, so it should hopefully now be broken in, but still not happy with the reliability of the gun. Not sure how to proceed, ammo is expensive to waste it in a gun which probably has to go due to reliability issues. One option might be to send it back to Taurus to get it fixed, but then it will need extensive firing again to prove it can now be trusted... The other option might be to sell it and say good bye to 1911's and revert back to Glocks which have up to now proven to be 100 % reliable without any break in period right out of the box. I like the look and feel of the PT1911, but in the end I also need to trust it. I don't think it is limpwristing, always focus on proper stance and strong grip with both hands, I also shoot .44 Magnums without a problem, so I would think I can exclude this as the point of failure.

Great handgun, much nicer than shown in pictures. No giant Taurus billboard on slide anymore. Only a small Taurus stamp on corner of slide. Shot a bit over 100 rounds with no failures whatsoever. Very satisfied with purchase. Best budget 1911 around.

I'm a Taurus fan and when I decided I wanted a 1911, there was not other place I wanted to look.

I own a 709, 738, and two PT111s. All are awesome guns (especially at their price points).

Having said that, I'm 90% satisfied. First, the gun as covered in shipping grease (first Taurus I've seen like this). Second, grips are really cheap plastic. I will be replacing those. Trigger is gritty per other review. Finally, finish is pretty weak (already starting to wear).

Having got my gripes out of the way, for the price (as usual), it's a great gun. Mechanically, a great gun. Just be prepared for some clean up and I think you'll be happy.

Great Transaction from Bud's as usual. Before a start promise to read the entire review so you don't miss my true feelings. This is a Great pistol from Taurus. Built well and fit and finish is pretty good. Came with Novak sights and no "taurus billboard logo". the pistol i got only has very small Taurus logo on the left rear of the slide and a nice looking 1911 roll mark on the right side. all were gold laser etched and look very clean. Pistol shoots great and I had no issues with the function in the first 200 rounds. I do, however, doubt the claim that they are all meticulously smithed by the "pros" at Taurus. My trigger was a Gritty 8.5 lbs out of the box. I had to strip it to the frame and clean all the shipping grease and polish what I could and obtained a slightly creepy 6 lbs. I put 100 rounds through it and decided to take it to my LGS and let them finish the leaf spring, sear/disconnector and hammer. I now have a very classy metallic blue finish 1911 with a crisp 4.5 lb trigger and some "VZ operator style" grips i picked up on EBAY, all for under $550. IMO thats more than you can ask for. For the money this is a completely acceptable entry to mid level 1911 that I'm sure i will own for a long time. With the trigger work and the upgraded grips i absolutely love this pistol. Just remember that a 1911 is kind of like buying an AR platform rifle. Enter into it knowing that you are going to tweak it, polish it, and add a variety of extra bits and pieces over time to make it your weapon of choice. Don't hesitate on this one, buy it while the price is good.
