I know that green lasers are better than red ones. My question is what is the maximum effective distance of this red laser?

Derek, the Red laser will be about 40yds on a non bright day and 15yds on a bright sunny day. I would highly recommend getting the Green Laser version for superior performance in all conditions.

40 yards or so indoors outside mine is good to about 10 yards

Derek, How far would your target be at in a defensive protecting your life situation? That is the effective range of a laser. Any further then that the laser is a toy. With that being said a rail-mounted laser will shine on the target within about 3 inches of your point-of-impact (POI) all the way out to around 50 yards, depending on your load, of course.

Derek, the Owner's Manual from Crimson Trace states the green laser is a 1/2 inch circle at 50 feet, but they don't give a maximum effective range beyond that.

yes it can be carried with a loaded chambered it has a trigger safety (like a glock)

Derek, Yes and it should be. Have a good holster that covers the trigger no problem. The trigger safety means you have to pull trigger for it to fire. The pistol will not go off by itself without pulling the trigger. Practice with an empty/cleared pistol with your holster taking it in and out. There is zero chance the gun will fire without trigger being pulled, but 100% chance you will regret not having one in the chamber if you must use your pistol.

Derek, yes Sir. It has a trigger safety same as a Glock so as long as you get a quality holster that covers the trigger guard/trigger, you will be fine.

I bought two of these Walther PPS M2's, one for me and one for my wife. I also put a Crimson Trace sight on the other one I bought. These are fabulous guns. We love them and are having a blast (pun intended) shooting them. Great guns! .. Buds was an excellent place to purchase them. Great price, shipped out to my FFL super fast. Everything went just perfectly! .. Great product and great place to shop! .. no regrets!

Great pistol, very light and fits well in your hand. I liked having the Crimson Trace already installed. It took about 2 minutes to adjust the laser where I wanted POI to be. Comes with one 7 and one 6 shot magazine. Fit and finish is perfect and very well made as all German made weapons. I have had the p22 and this is my first large caliber Walther and I really like it. The trigger is very nice. Easy to conceal in a jacket or pants pocket and it is very thin overall.

My review is just to mention that buds gun shop is everything they said they would be.....great customer svs. This is my first pistol bought online, and they did a great job. In the meantime, I had an old rifle/Remington that I was looking for a magazine for and found it online thru Buds..very sentimental to me...my Uncles gun from the 70s.… And its shipping tomorrow!
