A:Bryan - Just be advised, you will need to have it installed by a competent gun smith. Fitting a barrel in a 1911 requires the proper tools, and even more so, the knowledge to do so. Improper fitting can result in failure to function or lost accuracy, all the way to catastrophic failure of the firearm and injury to the shooter. As James G stated, when he failed to get a knowledgeable person to install his barrel, he was injured. He had to learn the hard way that he was not qualified to install a new barrel in a 1911.See 2 more answers | -

A:James, yes, it will be a drop in for a large percentage of 1911's with a few needing minor fitting depending on how tight your Kimber tolerances are. -

A:Daniel - This is not a fully supported barrel. If you are planning to do what you say, then why not just go straight to a known, quality source for high quality 1911 parts? There are several, and they produce quality, tested barrels and other parts. Go with Kart, Barsto or Nowlin, contact them directly (through their internet sites) and tell them what you plan, then get their recommendations. Those guys make their parts, and know exactly what you would need to do what you want your firearm to do. Buy once - cry once.See 3 more answers | -

A:Cody - Many "drop in" barrels are in fact, "drop in".. However, due to very slight differences between 1911s and between the barrels of different manufacturers, it is sometime necessary to have a gun smith do some minor fitting to the barrel, and bushing, in order to ensure a proper fit. Having an improperly fitted barrel on a 1911 is a disaster waiting to happen, and can affect accuracy in a very negative way. So, hope for a 'drop in' fit, but be prepared to get some minor gunsmith work done to get the best possible fit - for safety and accuracy.See 2 more answers | -

A:If your Dan Wesson is a Bull barrel or a ramped barrel it will not work if it is a bushing barrel it will work but I advise that a good 1911 smith check out the fit and lock. I carry a scar on my forehead form a 1911 kaboom form a improperly fitted drop in barrel installed by a Navy armorerSee 1 more answer | -
