I can't give this piece of culinary cutlery 5 stars yet without putting it to a fair amount of work. However, what I can say from unboxing is that this is a beautiful knife. I'm not crazy about the diameter of the handle, for me its a bit small compared to other Japanese Santokus that I own but as far as blade sharpness, this takes the cake. The wife, being a Japanese National, has some very high standards for anything claiming to be "Made in Japan" or inspired by Japan. She's very quick to criticize. In this case, she's impressed and wanted to know what I paid, as we have paid close to twice as much for other Santokus that didn't seem nearly as sharp. A better evaluatioin of the true value and craftsmanship of this blade won't truly be known for another year or two but as of right now, I'm more than satisfied.
