The Redhawk .45 Auto/.45 Colt Moon Clips have an optimized charge hole design for positive ejection over a wide range of ammunition. Easy to load live rounds and to unload spent brass with only my fingers, no devices needed. For use in Ruger only, they are thinner than other moon clips used in Colt and SW revolvers which require a loader/unloader device.

These moon clipsallow me to fire ACP 45's instead of constantly purchasing long colt.they fit perfectly in my Ruger Redhawk and hold bullets very well. I| would have waited to purchase more itmes from Bud's if I had known shipping was nine dollars.

These are the best moonclips for the Ruger Redhawk 45Colt/45ACP revolver. The other moonclips may grab the cases more tightly, but they are also much more difficult to load & unload. These moonclips grip plenty tight for me and are comparativly easy to load and unload. No extra tool required. On top of that, Buds sells them 30% cheaper than anywhere else.

I order more of Ruger name brand Moon Clips for my Redhawk after trying less expensive third party clips. The Ruger clips load and unload easier with TK Custom tools.

These are indeed Ruger factory clips, so they're stainless and properly sized and tempered for reliability and long life. This same 3-pack from Ruger costs $15.00, so save some dough and get them from Bud's!

  • Q: Anyone know if these will work to shoot .45 acp from a 454 Super Redhawk?

    Dean, Not really. 45 long colt can be fired from a 454 Super Redhawk, but the indentation for the moon clips are not in the cylinder to accept the moon clip. .45ACP head spaces off the mouth. It is also a smaller cartridge and will, as you would find out, fall into the chamber. No, even a moon clip will work. The case would not be supported in the larger chamber and would split and spit hot gasses perhaps back in your face. The bullet diameter is the only thing similar and a .45ACP would require a completely different cylinder as with the swap cylinder .45 Colt/ACP in the Blackhawk.
    The reason the .45 Colt will work in a .454 is the same reason the .38 special will work in the .357 or the .44 special will work in the magnum or the .22 Short will work in the Long Rifle. It's just shorter, no other difference. The .45ACP case isn't even close to the .45 Colt or .454. Think of the .45 ACP and Colt/.454 as with the .22LR and .22 Mag. Actually, not headspacing on the rim, a .45ACP is even more different than the .22LR is to the .22 mag. But, if the .22LR fires in the .22 mag, it will not be supported .
