Received from Buds in a week which was an incredibly short time because it was the 4th of July holiday. Rifle arrived in perfect condition, flawless and exactly as advertised. I will hunt with it in NY state this coming fall. Thanks Buds for a great deal on a superb rifle.

New... favorite... toy!!! Folks, I just put three boxes of 300-grain 45-70 through this thing (a mix of Hornady Leverevolution and Fusion Soft Flat-nose) and it ate everything in sight, sent the dirt berm at my range flying, and had every weekend warrior packing an AR at the range stopping to watch. Sure, the factory sights are kind of laughable and shoot low but after-markets look way better. And it ate up my shoulder with the tiny recoil pad that comes with it but let's be honest - that's why you buy it in the first place (feels good to be blaster bruised)! This thing is a punisher and I have no doubts it'll stop anything charging at a full sprint in the backwoods; I don't care how big it is. Excellent buy from Buds. Now, if only I could convert my AR to shoot 45-70...

Buds shipped quickly, excellent transaction, nice looking gun. Trigger pull very heavy. Will see if it gets better over time.

Great rifle. Arrived in perfect condition and is a beautiful rifle. Fired 20 rounds through it so far and tweaked the sights a little and it shot a 1" group off of a rest at 75 yards. I shot a 10" gong hanging on heavy chains at 100 yards and it flipped the gong vioently over the chains in a 360. Very powerful. Love it.
As for Bud's, I have purchased over 60 guns from them, but thanks to a customer service operator that was polite but unable to give a straight answer or get off script about a rifle that I purchased the day after this one, I will never buy another gun from them. I have bought from them since 2009 and they have been great but I was totaly turned off by this event enough to not buy from them any longer. Even so I highly recommend their usual service and better than most prices.

I just recieved my 1895 guide gun, i haven't shot it yet but i have given it a good inspection. Everything seems to be in excellent shape, wood to metal fit and finish are nearly flawless. The action is a little rough, that will get smoother in time. overall i am very pleased with the rifle so far, maybe remington has a handle on the quality issues they had earlier. And thanks Buds for another smooth transaction.

Despite what others have said elsewhere online about the new 1895s being made by a Remington owned Marlin not being as good or having issues; I however am completely happy with my purchase. First thing I did was read the manual, take the gun apart and clean/oil it. Using 300gr Winchester SuperX JHP ammo feels similar to shooting a 12ga with 7.5 or 8oz Target/Birdshot, not bad at all. Me and my almost 60yr old dad took turns putting holes through stumps. The recoil pad is very nice. For those on the fence about one, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this at all. Can't wait until I get an opportunity to actually hunt with it.

When it comes to shooting it, well its accurate like it should be, and it'll handle any .45-70 load you put in it. but for some reason, even with it tightened down well, the stock will move up and down slightly if you put some pressure on it. i dont know what that is all about but it still handles the loads just fine and stays accurate. other than that, im very pleased, and after im done cleaning it from a hard day at the range, i cant help but smile at how good this gun looks. But my smile soon turns to a frown because my shoulder isnt in the best shape after 20 or so rounds out of this tank of a gun lol. but who cares, its worth the pain!!!

I absolutly love this rifle! First off its a Marlin and made in America so thats a small plus, second the wood is darker than the picture (i knew this but for those who don't know now you do) Its beautiful, everything was 100%, smooth action, sights were better than other reviews have stated accross the internet. It comes drilled and tapped so you can mount a scope but personally chose the XS sights ghost ring system which is awesome. This rifle does have the ballard (i believe thats what its called) rifling NOT the micro groove so you CAN shoot cast bullets accuratly in this rifle! Took it out yesterday and it shot amazing 100 (3 inch group) and 200 (4.75 inch group) yard shots were no problem with ultramax 405gr. and Hornady 325gr. ballistic tip, at 300 yards they both began to spread (about 6 inch groups) but IMO kept a pattern well enough for hunting, with a little practice i can definatly shrink the groups. I bought this rifle for use in the future while camping and fishing, it does have some heft but with 5 rounds of 45-70 at my disposal the weight is easily forgotton. I could go on and on about how good this rifle is its just that good, do yourself a favor if you are deciding to buy this gun dont hesitate, Its the best 500 bucks ive spent in a long time and i own a lot of rifles. Thank you Buds for a second flawless transaction!

Dynamite comes in small packages, and that definitely holds true for this little gun. It will handle any load you can, and then come back for more. I have handloaded the .45-70 with 510 grain hard-cast bullets up to 1650 fps, which is enough medicine to take down any big game including the Big Five. That load will go through an 8" oak like a stick of butter. The gun handles it without a complaint, which is more than I can say for my shoulder. If you shoot the Guide Gun with such heavy loads, you will HAVE to use recoil protection or you will regret it.

If you just have to have a high-velocity big-bore magnum and have the bucks to shell out for one, then by all means follow your heart. But if you want a very cost-effective, handy little powerhouse that will do the same job, get one of these!
