Both the model 50578 and 50579 have a 20" barrel, pistol grip option, 8 rd capacity, bead sight, and are 12ga...what is the difference?? 50579 is 500SP instead of just 500 like the 50578, but what makes it SP?

Rikiya, the only difference is the 50579 has a "Blued Finish" and the 5078 has a "Parkerized Finish".

Does it come with a pistol grip as well with full stock?

I've been a remington 870 guy my whole life. After doing extensive research, I came across this Mossberg 500. Hands down, best 12 gusge I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. Great for beginners or experts. Buds,as always, amazing shipping.

I like this shotgun and it has been very reliable. The only problem is that, due to the short barrel, the skeet range has asked me not to fire it as they say it is too loud. Still awesome as a home defender.

I purchased this product because I am partial to a 20” shotgun with a magazine tube length equal to the barrel. Bud’s was prompt to ship once the payment was processed. The shotgun was very nice and the action is quite smooth after a thorough cleaning and 200 rounds. My only complaint is that the front sight bead was forced out of the gun when I fired a slug. I had made sure the bead was tight; however, it projected slightly into the bore. After contacting Mossberg, they sent me a replacement front bead free of charge. I did have to fit the new bead by installing, checking, filing, removing, and repeating that until the bead no longer protruded into the bore. For final installation, I used some blue Loctite per Mossberg’s recommendation. As a note, I am a student at Sonoran Desert Institute with some formal training in gunsmithing. I recommend either doing these steps or having a gunsmith perform these steps depending on your experience.

This is a really great shotgun for home defense and shooting was exactly like the picture I have been a Remington 870 fan all my life and I would say this tops it I really like all the custom parts you can get for this mossberg

Functioned very well. Only had a couple jams, but I’ll look attribute that to the cheap ammo I was running through it. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality shotgun for home defense or target shooting.
