Bought this 1873 (beautiful) and installed the Marble tang pop up sight. The problem is, the sight at max height, barely can see the front blade on the barrel, has anyone else had this problem (insufficient range in the marble sight height?)

Eugene, No to insult your intelligence, but did you install the step elevator with your pop up tang sight? The Step Elevator controls the height adjustment of the rear sights just like the vintage models. Available for 1-7/8 inch and 2-3/4 inch rear sights. The double step design assures sturdiness. Thumb button has been added for easy adjustment. Depending on your Marble sight you used 63, 63H, 64, 64H, 65, 66, 66H, 67, 67H, or 68 you would use elevator part number 09500, 09100, 09200 double step elevators or part number 009050, or 009080 for single step. I wish I had this one. We have a great group of members and I hope one of them will have an answer for you. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those. But you are right. This is a beautiful firearm.

I just got this rifle, beautiful! I hoped to put the Marble Tang Peep sight on it but the sight has two mounting screw holes, there is only one, the rear screw in the rifle. Is it OK to drill and tap (short screw) for the front sight mounting screw thru the metal plate? I tried to mount the sight with only the single rear screw, but it wasn't very stable.

Eugene, if you have the skills then yes. A gun smith can likely do a good job if not. Congrats on the new rifle, they are sweet reminders of early history Sir. Cheers!

I would take it up to a gun smith. Unless you have the talent.

Eugene, You can do whatever gunsmithing to this rifle you want to and can afford. You can drill and tap an extra hole to mount the sight you want.

Beautiful rifle - from top to bottom. Uberti makes a beautiful product. All wood is flush and appears to be walnut. The trigger is stiff, tolerances are tight and she weighs a ton. I'm in love. It was a long time to wait for her though - 5 weeks.
My FFL dealer said that five weeks wasn't bad at all - he's been waiting for a custom .45 for eight weeks. However, I called before ordering I was told that they had the rifles in stock - at a smaller warehouse - just waiting to make it to the main warehouse. This wasn't true in the least. The CSR rep that I eventually spoke to told me that all Uberti's are special order. She offered to refund my money. I'm glad I waited. This reproduction is incredible. Everybody at the gun shop held it and then wanted one of their own.
