It's not a true .223 Wylde chambering. It is chambered in 5.56mm NATO, which means it can safely shoot both the 5.56mm NATO round, as well as the .223 Remington round. However, in theory, the 5.56mm NATO chambering does not afford the maximum accuracy potential for the .223 Remington cartridge. I say in theory because my experience with this rifle has been that it shoots the .223 round very accurately, as long as I do my part. My best groups have been using Privi Partisan .223 75-grain JHP ammo. Using this ammo I shot better groups than with 5.56mm NATO with 55-grain FMJ rounds. Bottom line on the Colt LE 6920: with the 1:7 twist, this rifle has excellent accuracy potential right out the box. I wouldn't worry about it not being chambered in .223 Wylde. I don't think I would have been to shoot any tighter groups. The 1:7 twist has more to do with the accuracy potential than the Wylde chambering.

If you get the scope high enough to clear the front sight it is very ungainly to use. You are best off replacing the gas block (front sight) with a low profile one to use a scope. You could get an AR with an aluminum handguard with the picatinny rail and no front sight. Then put your scope on and use offset AR backup iron sights which sit at a 45 degree to the scope and are not in the way.
