The Winchester Model 92 was designed by John Browning as a pistol caliber replacement for the Model 1873. Over a million Model 92s were produced before Winchester ceased production in 1945, and the rifle was popularized in countless western movies, including many starring John Wayne.

Rossi continues the Model 92 tradition with this modern day reproduction built with up to date materials and production methods. It features a traditional color case hardened receiver and matching curved butt plate, a 20" octagonal barrel, and blued finish. This rifle is a great choice for cowboy action shooting, as well as small game hunting, pest control or general plinking.

Lever action repeater
20" octagonal barrel

This gun is like shooting a 22 recoil is so light and very accurate. The fit and finish is great. So fun to shoot.

Excellent rifle. Only reason I gave 4 stars was the 92's are harder to break down to clean. There are good videos out there to show how to do it right. I use this as a back-up for SASS, and use a '73 primarily now because you can get a short-stroke on the '73 and not the '92. '92 is still very dependable. Bud's is always great with price and shipping. Never had a problem with Bud's and continue to use them for almost all of my firearm purchases.

I picked this Rossi up at my FFL on 1/28. Like always Buds was very fast to ship once paid in full. This is my 3rd Rossi 92 and second one purchased from Buds. The first one had to go back to Braztech with in a month because it wouldn't feed 357 rounds. it was returned in about 5 weeks and has been my favorite gun to shot until Yesterday :) When I got the new Rossi home I did all the regular cleanings, refinished the wood (Pine Tar) cut the mag spring down and cycled the action about 1000x. The fit and finish on this gun was why better then my other two 92's (24" SS 357 and 16" blued 44). The first two shoots I took yesterday went though the same hole at 50 yards. I'm very happy with this rifle. I can't wait to get a marbles tang sight on it. This rifle cycled 357 mag and 38sp just fine, no hang ups at all. The only problem I have is loading it, the rounds seem to get hung up after 4-5 and makes it hard to load. I'm hoping a little oil and stainless steel mag follower will fix that problem.

Rossi's Octagon Barrel models are a whole different breed than their less-expensive round barrel models. Mine is put together like a Swiss watch. The Fit, Finish, and Function is as good as the Henry Big Boy I purchased from Bud's a couple of months ago. It's that's good. The trigger pull is crisp with no creep or grinding and breaks cleanly at exactly 4.5 lbs. The hammer pull is also as smooth as glass as is the lever function. Both the stock and forend fit flush to the receiver, butt plate, etc. and is a very nice oiled finish. It's properly filled and looks like walnut. The colored case hardening seems to be a chemical process rather than an actual case hardening process but that's pretty much standard these days. The butt plate, end cap and action are all colored and it looks really nice. The 20 inch carbine came with an extra tang screw so you can mount a vernier tang sight if you like but the standard sights are well-aligned and works fine just as it is. I took my new little baby out to the boonies yesterday on a cold snowy day here in Northern Nevada and ran several loads through her. Nary a glitch as all loads fed, chambered, and extracted perfectly and smoothly. I was surprised to find that even my 180 gr. lead bullet .357 Magnum handload with a very wide pug nose also fed perfectly. However, I didn't test fire any 38 Special loads yesterday. I don't particularly like the safety device but that's what political correctness has done to the firearm industry these days. It can only be set on SAFE when the hammer is either on half-cock or full-cock which pretty much makes it useless. The narrow crescent butt plate will probably bite just a bit but I was wearing a heavy coat yesterday so recoil felt quite tame. One interesting thing that I noted was that Braztech is now only giving a 1-Year Warranty these days rather than their Lifetime Warranty. However, if you start swapping out the springs or using handloads, you'll void the warranty anyway. Before I received this carbine, I purchased Lee's Gunsmithing Spring Kit. Maybe it's needed on the round barrel models but mine absolutely doesn't need it as it's perfect as-is. This carbine is an absolute delight and I highly recommend it. And as usual, THANKS BUD!

Looks nice but once again the wood is oversized, does not look authentic because of that, case Harding is not very good either. Stick with the carbine versions, they are of Better quality.

Received the rifle yesterday, brought it home and did a simple clean up. Took it out to the range and shot about 50 rounds through it trying to sight it in. Finally noticed (after moving the rear sight) that the front sight was off. After getting everything back to where it should have been from the factory it shot very well. Fit and finish on this one is pretty darn good for the price. really like the balance and feel. will be shooting it a lot more in the coming days. One thing I did notice right away was that I could move the rear sight with a good amount of pressure from my thumb, might have to shim that, not a deal breaker at all. I would not hesitate to recommend this rifle, fun to shoot and looks good doing it.
