The K1A 35 Whelen was the third installment of the K1A Series. The 35 Whelen answerered the demand for a larger bore lightweight Number 1. The .358 bore diameter is the largest that Ruger can manufacture in the lightweight "A" barrel contour. Due to the larger bore diameter, the weight was reduced around a half pound, making for a very nice packing rifle.
