With the pistol grip stock and octagonal barrel, this Sporter version looks more like the tool of a dedicated rifleman than a working cowboy. Winchester upped the ante by using fine Grade II/III walnut for the stock and forend. There are many reproduction 1873 rifles on the market. And then, there is the real thing, in a limited supply straight from Winchester.
