Service from Bud’s was excellent; the rifle arrived in three days. The first problem I ran into with this rifle was when I tried to insert the bolt – it did not want to go in. It went in hard and It came back out equally hard. There was a gouge and corresponding metal burr left on the bolt slide bearing surface – left side. Not sure how this could have gotten there, but it was bad enough to draw blood from running a finger over it. The bolt seems to be fine. It took me about an hour with a small block of wood and fine emery cloth to clean up the burr. This rifle should never have left the factory like this. Someone test fired this thing and had to have noticed the difficulty in getting the bolt over the flaw; yet they let it go out anyway. Second, all could have been forgiven if the rifle was accurate – it is marginally accurate. I have worked with it for over a month with different handloads and still can’t get MOA accuracy out of the this rifle. I own two other Savages with the Accustock and both are tack drivers. This one is not. I have been a fan of Savage for many years – I own six overall. But something has gone wrong at Savage.
