Between 1876 and 1880, the Sharps Rifle company offered a no-frills, round-barreled "Business Rifle," for the shooter who wanted to get the job done, but wasn't interested in the various "extras" offered by the company. Nonetheless, the Business Rifle still boasted of the accuracy and hard-hitting qualities of other 1874 model Sharps rifles and was equipped with double set triggers. Cimarron's handsome Business rifle has a 32-inch octagonal barrel with the traditional color case hardened receiver, hammer and lever, double-set triggers, a straight walnut stock with the post 1875-type schnabble-tipped forearm and the comfrotable shotgun-style butt plate, and is chambered for the popular .45-70 Government cartridge. Sights are a buckhorn rear and blade front sight.

Ordered this as a set (comes with display case) but when it arrived the case wasn't with it and the rifle had a finish flaw on the forend. Didn't make the transfer and had it sent back. Got the replacement yesterday and it looked really nice - wood was much better on this one and fit/finish looked great so I filled out the paperwork and took it home. Got everything out of the box and found no manual and after unpacking the case I found it was just cheap junk (see separate review) but the rilfe looked good. Wanted to check the action so I went to chamber a dummy round - no good - wouldn't chamber - the falling block would not retract far enough and was partially blocking the chamber - I called Cimmaron and they told me to call Chiappa - found Chiappa friendly and helpful but could not provide any idea as to what was causing the jam - pulled lever hinge pin at their direction but the block was jammed in the receiver and would not come out. So, I have to box this up, find sturdy packaging and send it to Chiappa in Dayton, OH to see if they can fix it. Chambering dummy ammo is not something you would normally do at a dealer and I did cock the hammer and pull the lever down when I inspected the gun - I did not notice the defect as everything seemed to work smoothly. If I was buying a bolt action rifle and it had a broken extractor I probably wouldn't know it until I tried to shoot it or run ammo through it ... same here. This is a good looking gun but I'm out shipping expense and time (it was supposed to be a Xmas gift) and I'm certainly disappointed in it. So, I give it good marks for appearance (the second time around) but bad marks for factory QC -
