The fact that the UTAS has two 7-round magazines, with a feature of alternating between magazines after each shot, effectively makes it a 14-round magazine. Pump or semi, it is still subject to 10 round limit.

David, it's my understanding that this is is not NY legal because it can feed alternatively bringing the “capacity” to over 10 rounds, as opposed to having to manually switch from one magazine to the other. But I am not a lawyer, so best to check with your local FFL. Have a great day!

Fred, The NY shotgun restrictions only apply to semi-auto shotguns. So this pump action shotgun escapes the purview of the NY restrictions.

It has a pistol grip which is prohibited on shotguns in NY state and the magazine capacity is over 10. So it looks like that would not be NY compliant

yes it is fine with steel shot but steel shot is not as effective as lead shot and in a self defense situation I would stay with lead every time. Steel shot was mandated by the government for duck hunting and it is far less effective that lead shot was

Nathan, yes, this shotgun has a 4140 steel barrel and will have no issues with Steel or Tungsten shot.

Thought it would be a fun shotgun to shoot. Not so much. The pump mechanism is finicky, at best. You think you have one ready to go and then, "click". Nothing. No matter how much care you take to not short shuck, it happens with this thing. Took it to a gunsmith - he had the same problem, no matter how much tinkering he did with it. Wouldn't recommend. There are so many other, lower priced, shotgun options on the market. Don't waste your money or time. Points for how cool it looks and how many rounds it holds, but other than that, bad buy.

Absolutely absurd...in the most wonderful way. Can't count the number of looks and questions I got at the range with this monstrosity haha. Even shot some skeet with it as a joke and did surprisingly well haha. Accuracy by volume if all else fails!

I love the look and feel. I've put 450 rounds through it with no failure to extract. I have short or soft stroked it a few times but not often because I like the feel and sound of racking it hard. Great 12ga.

Awesome shotgun! I used a laser bore sighter to bring my backup and red dot in line. No major issues. Don't be gentle with the fore-end when firing. If you baby it, casings may or may not eject fully. After I found my pace, the UTS-15 was flawless! I am really happy with this purchase! Once again, Bud's has come through!
