is having the laser worth the extra $20? how/what does it add to the firearm?

Definitely for $20 Michael. The laser is an invaluable tool for developing muscle memory and trigger pull technique. The laser dot will show you every wobble of your muzzle. As your technique improves and your muscle memory develops, you will naturally develop steadier trigger control. Plus it's removable when not needed.

for me being a 22lr I would say no to the laser unless your carry gun had a laser and you were using this as a low cast training tool. In a bedside gun used in a low light situation I could se a laser being a real advantage

This is my second Walther P22. I have a 5 inch barrel and a 3.4 inch barrel. Both shoot great and are very accurate. The 3.4 inch barrel seems to be as accurate as the 5 inch match grade barrel. In the reviews I have read, some people are having trouble with their guns being picky on ammo. I have shot Armscor, Aquila, Winchester, and Federal. All are high velocity ammo and I haven't had any failures yet. This is a great little pistol and I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a .22. Bud's always has a great price and VERY fast service, Great company to deal with.

Very smooth operation. Pistol shoots very easy. Trigger pull is very lite after the first shot. The first shot is a longer trigger pull very easy. After that their is very little movement of the trigger and it shoots. The slide is easy and smooth to pull back. If you have small hands, I have medium sized hands and had no problems, and you like to conceal carry, and like a smaller calibre for better control, this fits the bill. It is really fun to shoot, feels and shoots great. Cheap ammo and a couple of hours at the range very little money spend. I highly recommend this pistol.
