This high-capacity semi-automatic Russian Saiga rifle was made at the famous Izhevsk plant where Mikhail Kalashnikov worked since 1949 until he retired. CIA moved the trigger group forward, added a pistol grip, some sexy cuts in the forearm, made it 922r compliant and voila. A high-capacity 7.62X39mm, AK-looking Saiga that is bargain priced. It has a 16.25" chrome-lined barrel with a 1:9.5" twist, and overall length of 35.5" and weighs 7.95 lbs. It comes with two 30-round magazines.

Supremely happy the decision to purchase this AK. Fit and finish is good for the price ($600) and it's proven to be reliable and accurate during the several hundred rounds we've put through it. Of the 2 original magazines that came with works perfectly and the other can only hold 10 rounds before it stars to jam up. Tapco magazines at $7 a piece (on sale) fix this problem so no worries there. 922(r) compliant, reliable and accurate (for an AK), what more could you want?

Product came in cardboard box with weapon, two magazines, and a plastic baggy containing cleaning kit. Weapon itself had random tooling marks, very poor craftsmanship on the cuts on the hand guard, and overall poor appearance for a "new" weapon. The fit of the upper receiver is so tight it was nearly impossible to field strip it and once it was stripped, putting the upper receiver cover back on was just as difficult. There was no magazine wobble at all which is good. Pistol grip seemed good. Stock seemed sturdy as well. A few times when inserting magazines it was impossible for them to release, I nearly bent the magazine release tab trying to force it to release the magazine, again, poor craftsmanship. If this was any other situation than post Sandy and gun control mania I would have refused delivery, however I kept the weapon. I would rate it a C due to overall appearance and poor craftsmanship.
