This unit replaces the magazine base plate on the M&P Shield 45. This extension does not alter the capacity of the magazine and adds approximately 3/4" inch additional gripping surface.
NOTE: This model will not work on S&W Shield 9 or 40.

Large hands and compact handguns can pose a problem. Never liked my pinkie only grasping air on the Shield when using a standard capacity magazine. This cured the situation.

I just installed the Pearce grip extension on a new Performance Center Shield .45 acp 6RD, unloaded mag with no problem by holding down the mag spring with my left thumb while sliding the factory grip off, then sliding the Pearce grip on while still holding the spring. I tested the modified 6RD mag to be sure it could still be inserted into the firearm and again, no problem. Note: This is NOT a +1 extension, you can only load 6 rds but that is all I need for a range mag that now has a pinky extension similar to the factory 7 rd mag. Another excellent Pearce product.
