My 1st, 1911 and thought the recoil in 10mm was going to be much more stout, however the weight of the gun mitigated most recoil. It's accurate, it's certainly not an everyday carry (probably just for woods and nightstand gun but I really like it. Take down with a paperclip is a pain but pretty easy once you do it a few times. Buds was quick, kept me informed through delivery this is why I have always went through Buds. I can recommend this gun as it's ever bit of what it's advertised as and has features of a much more expensive 10mm pistol.

Shot a little over 1000 rounds of random ammo to include Underwood, buffalo bore, random hollow points and tons of FMJ. It's ran just fine through all of it. I run drills for hours with it and besides the constant reloading it's doing great. Slide locked open a few times with really hot ammo but I may have hit it wearing gloves. It's a really fun gun for a decent price. It's no Nighthawk but it's a lot of fun. I wish it came with more mags.

I gave up on looking for a 10mm 1911 Colt or Springfield Ronin, just not in stock anywhere. I own two other RIA 1911s and love them so I purchased this single stack 10mm because I already own the 10mm double stack. So far I've fired only 50 rounds of Federal 10mm 180 grain rounds with my new pistol. The pistol ran flawless. The RIA 51914 gun is a tack driver (super accurate). The recoil is just a bit more than my 9mm and is very manageable for rapid fire. The trigger is smooth with a short reset. The high visibility red fiber optic front sight is fantastic. It doesn't get any better. So why did I only give it 4 stars? After cleaning off the presevatative oil the gun came in. I noticed wear on the gun that shouldn't be there. There were wear marks on the slide and barrel. My other two RIA guns I bought were in prestine condition the way a new gun should be. I'm disappointed in the finish of this gun. I didn't expect the finish found on a Colt or Springfield but it shouldn't look like a used gun.

Got my Rock Island Tac Ultra 1911 1omm last September and finally got a chance to hit the range. Great firearm, fed nicely, no failures. Shipping was fast as always from Buds, great customer service too.

I must say I am pretty impressed. The gun is accurate right out of the box and it doesn't have as much recoil as I was expecting. The gun is easy to shoot and seems to handle different kinds of 10mm ammo (FMJ vs JHP) without issue. The fit and finish aren't bad and that was a concern I had. The recoil spring is super stiff but that's to be expected with a 10mm.
The Cons are, I did not get a takedown tool (it's like a paperclip kind of thing) so I had to make my own and it only comes with one mag. Also, the gun was covered in an extra heavy layer of super thick gun oil. I had to do a detailed field strip to clean the thing before I took it to the range.
Overall, I would recommend for someone looking for a nice 10mm 1911 frame gun.
