Traditions 50 Cal Kentucky Pistol Kit/10" Blued Octagonal Ba

Barrel does not come blued ignore the description. Metal parts do not fit together. Screws are made of butter so expect to replace them. Screw holes are no where near each other be ready to drill and tap. This kit is fun if you are a metal worker, a wood worker, and have the patience of a saint. Expect to spend $60 on finishes.

I purchased two of the Kentucky Pistols. Really good set for the price. This is my first time building, refinishing and blueing gun barrels. I really enjoyed them and would recommend them. However, I did find that one of the stocks there was a small crack. On the other stock I observed that whom ever worked the wood stock took to much the wood material off. As the builder, it is not hard removing the wood material, however it is a little bothersome when to much of the material is missing and disrupts the precision forming you are looking for. I actually would prefer if the manufacturer left a lot more wood material. Other than that I have no issues and like I said they are a great buy and came out looking really good. I am really satisfied with the product.

The item arrived exactly as described. Minor fitting was needed for the metal parts to the stock as well as some shaping of the wood, but that all adds to the personal experience of building it yourself.

This kit is almost done for you.Most of the brass parts are polished.A little bit of wood work is required.Some trimming of ramrod thimble screws was needed for ramrod to slide into thimbles.It id not take long to finish this kit.It came out looking good .I am very happy with the way it came out.

My wife got me this pistol as an early Christmas present knowing full well that it would keep me from pestering her during the extreme cold days when I couldn't work outside. I've built these before but, I want to take my time with this one and perhaps add some fancier touches (24k guild work to the stock maybe?). Anyway, Buds service was prompt as always. These BP pistols almost invariably need a little minor work on the stock and fitting but, that's part of the fun of building them. Thanks, Buds and thanks Traditions for a quality product!

The black powder pistol was awesome to put together. Little trouble with the brass cap pieces. holes wouldn't line up and had to do a little sanding to make it fit. But over all nice pistol I owe now for my collection

I ordered this to go with my Kentucky flintlock rifle and enjoy building these kits. Work is needed to get the parts to fit properly but that's the point of the do it yourself kit. It should shoot pretty well like when its finished. I want to point that for the same price or significantly less than other places, I got this kit and a fobus holster for my 1911. Processing to a few days that was alright. Heard about Buds after watching Hickok45 and glad I finally did business with them.
