The Carbon steel Mil-Spec is built on a full-size frame and slide. The pistol is made from carbon steel, which has a parkerized finish on the flat surfaces and bead-blasted matte finish on the rounded areas. The 5 inch barrel is match grade and made from stainless steel. The slide features slanted serrations on the rear only. The mainspring housing is the original arched style found on GI issue 1911-A1s, but it includes the Springfield Armory® I.L.S.™ The pistol also has a standard spur hammer and standard grip safety. The single-sided, non-extended thumb safety and short military combat trigger are true to the original 1911-A1 design. The combat 3-Dot sights are fixed, and the ejection port is lowered and flared. Each carbon steel Mil-Spec comes with a beautiful pair of cross-cannon emblazoned cocobo grips that are held in place with slotted grip screws.

Great 1911 that shoots everything I feed it. Looks great especially with those nice Coco Bolo (wood) grips as shown on the images. The gun comes with a second set of polymer grips for those of us who don't want to ruin the wood on the range.
The 45 ACP is a mighty caliber and I love to shoot it. Springfield Armory is doing a great job on this Mil Spec gun and I love the looks of the full length 5" A1 type 1911.
I am very happy with buds customer service. Saving money for an M1A Scout Squad Walnut from Springfield Armory and buying this handgun has definitely solidified my positive impression of SA.

Thanks Buds

Owning so many 1911s over many decades,I\'ve lost track of the number owned. Given that, I didn\'t expect to be surprised by much. Boy was I wrong about that. Have always been a fan of the SAI line of 1911s and had several full custom pistols built by SACS with fantastic results. Only had to use the near legendary CS one time, but it did not disappoint.

This mil-spec on review is a tightly fitted firearm. Very good and smooth frame / slide fit. Barrel locks up tight with a good fit of the hood and it does , in fact, touch the breech face on lock up. Barrel bushing tight but just loose enough to remove with my fingers. I have good hand strength so may not be the same for all. All internals fit well and function is good. Extracter tensioned properly and ejector tuned so as to place spent casings in a nice pile.

So far no surprises, but now for the MSH. After all these years of forgeting to install the take-down thing in the msh, I could not find it in the box. I looked and looked, not there. After I quickly fabricated one, much to my surprise, it seems SAI has eliminated the ils on the MSH. Good for them always disliked that feature. I do not need to lock the function of my weapons. I have a good gun safe.

It has fired only 200 rounds at the range, but all flawlessly. The process for me has begun. I hjad on hand many parts to fit to this mil-spec. After doing some work for my LGS, I was rewarded with as new Ed Brown tool steel hammer, sear and disconnect. 10-8 NM rear sight, S&A beavertail installed, grieder trigger, wilson bulletproof thumb safety, 10-8 slidestop and it is now a 1911 I can use. None of what I did is necessary, I had all but the beavertail grip safety on hand, but it does make a nice 1911 a nearly perfect gov\'t model. The finishing touch will some front strap checkering, a dovetail front sight and the VIS releived for the lower barrel lugs to not crash in to, a \"bowtie\" cut to many.

So for around $1K, I will have a 1911 to rival models costing much more. Only because I can perform the work myself is this possible. My advice is if you need all this on your 1911, buy the gun with it already modded, maybe the TRP, much cheaper than sending it away. The gun is fine as it was recieved, I just can\'t leave well enough alone.

Thats all I\'ve got. Thanks to Buds for a good price and fast shipping

I shot the Springfield today and I'm very happy with all concepts of this 45. It has a great balance, sights are clear, slide is tight, the finish and grips are perfect. It fired very good groups at 25 yards and it shot flaulessly with no problems.
I carried a 1911 in the military and would have trusted this Springfield as my side arm.

Nobody can have just one. The first one was so good I had to buy another, I'm going to send this one to SACS for a few minor upgrades.

Like always Buds delivers.

This is my 4th buy from Buds, number 5 coming soon.

This gun is great. I have always been a fan of the polymer pistols, but the 1911 feels like it was made for you hand. I have fired several types of ammo and all have functioned flawlessly. The slim design of the 1911 makes it quite easy to carry concealed in a IWB or OWB holster, even though it is a little heavy. The pistol runs like a sewing machine. Highly accurate as you would guess. Bud's service is great. The pistol arrived quickly and the transfer was quick and painless.
