I just love the 10mm. Started, and still shoot in matches, a Delta Gold Cup I bought way back when Colt first brought them out. I added to my collection of 10mm since and this one is just great.

I waited in line for over 6 months for this one and Bud came completely through for me, their layaway program is by far the best idea any gun company has ever had, these are going up slightly , but I was able to NAB it at a low price , Shoots great and no jams , it's all I could ask for thank you buds

Excellent pistol. Right out of box100 rounds of FMJ and no FTF or FTE’s.
Weight of firearm helps reduce recoil. Smooth firing weapon. Double tap is
right on target within 4”. G10 grips give you a good grip on the firearm. Make
sure you get a good hold on the firearm or you’ll feel the kick back. Disassembly
For cleaning is pretty much straight forward until you get to removing the
barrel is a bit difficult at first but after a few rounds it loosens up. All in all this is
an excellent weapon. Shoots well, takes everything you feed it, and is extremely
accurate.

As usual I got excellent service from buds. The rock island 1911 45 acp was an excellent choice. It fired well and has very little recoil. I have always been satisfied with buds.

I have owned this exact make and model previously for a couple of years and after it's loss I immediately started looking for another. This particular model in this configuration it not readily available and when I saw it listed at Bud's and for a very good price I ordered it right away. The Rock Ultra MS with a 4.5" barrel in 10 mm has most of the features of other 1911 model 10 mm weapons but costs less than 1/2 of many of them. This weapon is built like they used to be, out of steel not polymers. Weapons of this type do take a few boxes of rounds to break in properly but you will be rewarded with a smoothly functioning and accurate weapon. Whether for protection in bear country or big game during handgun seasons I know that this Rock Ultra MS of mine will work when I need it to and you do not have to baby this one either. If you can find one in a gun shop somewhere just heft it and check it out. Then look at other manufacturers products with similar features. Many times you will be able to buy two of these for one the price of one of the other guy's 1911'a with change left over for an extra mag or two. This is a lot of gun so make sure it is for you and if it is, you will never regret owning it.

This is the first time I have bought a Rock Island pistol. I don't think you find a better gun for the money. Excellent fit and finish and trigger is excellent for stock trigger in this price range. You'll be impressed. Bud's service was great and the pistol was shipped promptly. Will buy more guns in the future.

Accurate, nice fit and finish. Except there seeems to be a problem with the mag release. A full mag will drop loose after a couple of rounds. Guess I’ll have to send it back to RIA.

Although I have only put 50 rounds through this so far, I was very pleased how accurate it was out of the box and how it felt while shooting. I purchased this gun mainly to carry while in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, I felt that the 10mm would more than cover my needs with the right ammo. I really like how this gun has the 4.25" barrel and for the size the recoil is not bad at all. I felt like it had less recoil to it than my Ruger SR40c shooting both 180g FMJ. In my opinion, for your money this is a very solid choice if your looking to do the same that I am.

I have had this 10mm for awhile and have no issues with it feeding or the accuracy. If you like to shoot hot stuff and who doesn't. would recommend Locktite or some oring's for the grip screws they like to shoot loose. Not really a negative but field stripping with the bull barrel is different when you are use to standard 1911.

Overall, I am disappointed. Let me begin by stating this is not my first 1911 nor my first 10mm. I purchased it because I had been looking for a Commander size 1911 in 10mm. The fit, finish and feel of the pistol were fine, but my range experience was not. After the first shot the magazine started falling out. At first I though it was shooter error and I solidly re-seated the magazine. Fired it again and after the 2nd round the magazine again started falling out. After repeating this exercise several times I tried using different 10mm magazines (Colt, Metalform and Chip McCormick) - and experienced the same problem. I had the range officer try the pistol and he had the same problem. I did not experience any failures to feed or eject - just the magazine falling out every few rounds. The pistol is now on its way back to Rock Island Armory for repair. In 40 years of shooting this is the first 1911 I've had send back for repair. Doesn't say much for Rock Island Armory's quality control.
