Straight up awesome gun. Big boy 50, even bigger than you think. Not able to shoulder it lol but makes it even more unique. Definitely bench gun.

Upon receiving the rifle; there were multiple areas of damage, galling and scratches and finish wear. Sent the rifle back to Armalite and received a "new" rifle with a visual defect in the receiver which they called scaling. Where the receiver was baked and hardened around the locking lugs which left a very noticeable deformity in the metal with an uneven surface. Not a very nice compliment in aesthetics to this rifle. No box. No Bipod and a limited rail for scope adjustment. I also bought a Barrett M99 and am happier with that purchase. Each rifle has their pros and cons; but overall. My opinion is that the Barrett M99 is the better package and value. It comes with a Pelican case. The fit and finish was flawless. It comes with a bipod and the trigger pull is good. It is also lighter to carry and easier to maneuver and has a longer rail for scope adjustment. The Armalite is a long, heavy rifle that comes bare bones stock in a cardboard box. Bipods are $270 dollars and good luck finding a hard case to carry this heavy rifle around.Soft cases which have a tendency to tear due to the muzzle brake are almost 200 dollars. Once put together it's about 60 inches tall. I have not fired either rifle yet; but have been left very disappointed with the fit and finish of the AR50 I received. I know that it has some advantages in barrel changes. trigger change/adjustments. But the lack of a bipod, monopod, and case easily puts this rifle in the 3500 dollar range. don't let the starting price fool you. You will end up investing more in the rifle just to get started comfortably. Again; it's just my comparison and opinion.

This has become my favorite gun I own. Was expecting a recoil of a 12ga or a .243 from the internet feedback but when using a Shooter's Ridge Mini Gorilla Bag I bought until the backordered APA bipod ships, it literally recoils like my .223 varmint gun. The muzzle blast wakes you up though. Using Federal (Lake City) XM33 ball ammo it seems to be very accurate and can't wait to try some Hornady A-Max. Maybe of limited use depending where you are from but in the open west I have miles upon miles of open terrain with mountains as backstops. The main downside is it barely fits in my Tacoma and weighs 40lbs to boot. The packet with the owners manual includes a pack of extra strength Tylenol which is not for the recoil or muzzle blast, unless you do not wear proper hearing protection, but for the sore back carrying it around I think. The picture is not fully accurate, like stated, but the refines of the A1 are great with a way better grip than a standard A2 pictured and the rear stock and free floating barrel seem to be better. Was wanting one for many years and glad I ignored the cost and did it. A word of warning, because of the size and weight it does take a while in shipping so don't blame Buds.

Bought this rifle 2 months ago.Havent had the time to shoot it yet but its really heavy.Feels like a real weapon should. The packaging is crap its just stuffed in a cardboard box.For the price i payed youd expect a box or atleast a cheap scope or bipod but it doesnt come with either. Will write another review once i shoot it.
