A friend convinced me to buy a Tikka over a Remington or Savage. BIG mistake. Overall, the fit and finish on the rifle are quite nice and it has one of the best factory synthetic stocks I've found. The action is smooth as glass and it's quite accurate, despite the skinny barrel. Here's the problem though: from the factory there was a defect in either the mag release or the receiver itself causing feeding problems. To get a round to feed I would have to put forward pressure on the bolt until the round slipped free of the feed lips. Then, I would have to slightly retract the bolt and then send the round home. Trying to chamber a round normally would cause it to jam up. Upon looking closer I noticed that there was 1/4" or more up and down play at the front of the mag. Beretta was kind enough to send me another mag to see if that would fix the problem; it didn't. I sent the rifle in with a note to exchange if possible. They sent the rifle back to me unfixed (totally unacceptable). The rifle is now on its way back to Beretta a second time. Tikka seems to put out a quality product, but if you get a rifle with something wrong with it, heaven help you when you have to deal with Beretta's customer service.
