is this pistol a semi - automatic?

Miquel, Yes this 1911 is semi-automatic. After firing the round in the chamber another round will cycle out of the magazine into the chamber until locking back when empty.

Can this handle 45 auto +P grade ammo or should i just stick with reg. 45auto

Jimmy, Remington advises NOT shooting any +P or +P+ loads in the 1911R1 line. Just stick with the Standard loadings.

The 1911 platform runs 38 Super Comp and 40 S&W at pressures considerably higher than 45 ACP +P or +P+ so it should be safe to do but it does require a heavier recoil spring (20 pound spring, the Remington comes with a 16 pound spring) and will accelerate wear. With the 45 ACP it should not be necessary to use +P for self defense. It hits hard enough as it is.

I've heard that these come with two 8 round mags. I saw the previous comment, does this only come with one mag and why? Secondly, do standard 1911 7 round mags fit this pistol? Thanks! I appreciate the feedback back you give!

Two 8 round mags, and standard 7 round (or 10 round extended) mags will work just fine.

Terrific 1911 for the price. Mine functioned 100% out of the box. Factory mags worked well. I know many buy aftermarket mags for 1911's but I insist that mine work with factory mags no matter the brand. Remington has done a great job with these. Would buy again.

Purchase process was easy and delivery was faster than expected. Absolutely love the Remington 1911 R1 Commander Ultralight. Factory new out of the box was well oiled and smooth action. I highly recommend Buds and the Remington 1911.

The gun i got is a Great gun! Finish was good looking all the saftys functioned like they should.i just got it.. Need to do some more testing.got the federal hst hollow pionts and it didnt like them.mine didnt come with a Ramped Barrel tho. The FMJ ammo it fed.rear sight was adjustable and blacked out. Front was fiber optic as said. Had checkering on back strap and ran 1/4 up the bev tail. Mine came with agressive black/gray VZ grips with mag realease taper cut.gripped in ur hands well.overall great purchase.affordable as well. Would recommend it. Will get another maybe in SS.

I have made a few purchases from Bud's, and so far all have been a good experience and at a good price. This particular 1911 appealed to me as an every day carry gun. The gun arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Just taking it out of the box it was quickly evident that it was lighter in weight. The gun was covered in lube...which was a good thing to see. I did a quick clean, and the re-lubed the slide. Using different brands of magazines and 100 rounds of 230gr FMJ rounds I went to the range. This 1911 performed very well, it fired and functioned, and it hit where I pointed it. Being lighter in weight there was more felt recoil, but I was expecting it and used a good, firm two-hand grip. Though it isn't technically "broke in" as far as 1911s go, this one is going to be my new EDC. Functions well and feels better on the hip.
