What if you could buy a competition-ready 1911 without taking out a second mortgage to pay for it? And what if you could shoot it without having to pay the cost of .45 ACP ammunition? Further, what if the recoil was surprisingly mild? Enter the 9mm Range Officer® from Springfield Armory®.

The 9mm Range Officer® has the same quality forged national match frame and slide as the Trophy Match™ and TRP™ 1911s. It gets the same precision fit as these pistols, too.  Add in the same national match stainless steel barrel and bushing, and you have a pistol that shoots well beyond its price tag. The 9mm Range Officer® is topped with a fully-adjustable rear target sight, so you have maximum flexibility. The beavertail grip safety, extended lightweight trigger and flat mainspring housing allow the pistol to sit in your hand comfortably for long periods of time at the range. The single-sided thumb safety keeps things simple and functional. It all adds up to a pistol that will let you seriously compete in a variety of matches.

A 1911 chambered in 9mm makes for a very pleasurable shooting experience. An accurate 1911 in 9mm is even more enjoyable. If you want to get into the game and bring a gun that will surprise you with its performance, try the 9mm Range Officer®…Are You Ready?™

Okay, count me as a skeptic when I read the other reviews touting the great service. Not now. Ordered on 16 and received it on 21st. That counting a Monday holiday and my FFL dealer closed one day. Then he looked it over and even he was impressed with the quality and the prompt delivery. I haven't fired it yet but it's the second Springfield Armory semi I own and won't be my last. Buds is awesome. Thanks and I certainly will recommend them to anyone looking for quality guns at excellent prices. BTW, they saved me $200 over a local dealer who priced it the day before I ordered.

My search for this pistol started when I was talking to a friend that went to the Shot Show and shot it. He raved about it and that got me to thinking I need (want) one. It has been a year and a half since I got this gun. It started out as a love hate relationship. I loved the gun and it hated me, trying to find 10 round mags that worked was a pain. Tried Wilson Combat EMTs, Dawson Precision, and Tripp Research. I did polish the feed ramp just because I was having issues probably did not need to be done but it does not hurt. It took around 500 rounds to break the gun in and an extractor adjustment to get it to run reliably, Once broken in it runs flawlessly on Dawson and Tripp 10 round magazines. I shoot IDPA, USPSA.... and want the advantage of 10 + 1. I have put close to 3000 rounds through it and recently had to replace the coil springs (recoil, main, and firing pin). I was relatively new to the 1911 platform when I got this and it has been a learning curve, Once this 1911 is dialed in it is a delight to shoot, the trigger is awesome and will spoil you. With the adjustable rear sight you can set it up the way you want and the fiber optic front sight is highly visible, even on a night shoot once you learn how to hit it with the flashlight. I like the small diameter fiber optic, it shows you the front sight without filling up the notch. The grips are good, not as aggressive as my VZs on another gun but plenty of checkering to get a good grip even in the heat of summer. I added a Wilson Combat stainless flared magwell (I used a blued one on another gun and the finish failed) to make it a little easier to reload. Several friends who have shot it have it on their wishlist.
Now that it is broken in and dialed in this is my go to competition gun. It runs flawlessly, is more accurate than I am, and feels great. John Browning created an amazing pistol that continues to stand the test of time, there are few pistols that can boast the trigger and ergonomics of the 1911. Yes, it is a high maintenance pistol, it is not a Glock that you can just about throw into the dishwasher, but do you want a Ford or a Ferrari? Would and do recommend this pistol to my friends. A rating of good is an understatement so up it to awesome. You will not be disappointed.

Extremely happy with this purchase from Bud's. My 4th purchase from Bud's and everything went smooth. The gun is great. Shot 200 rounds the first day at the range with it and no FTF or FTE. Gun tolerances are tight and bonus magazines from Springfield gear promo are a plus. I would recommend this gun for anybody just getting into 1911's because it is a 9mm and ammo is cheap for practice. Gun has adjustable rear sight which is also a plus for competition. Order it now... price is going up!

Absolutely great firearm. Bought it for my wife to shoot at the range. What a smooth shooting baby this is. I may buy me one too. Not quite the handful my Colt Gold Cup is. Simply SWEET!

Great gun. Felt like it took forever to actually ship. I have put about 500rds through it so far and have had maybe 2 failures to feed, and that was in the first 100rds. Comes with a great case, holster, mag pouch and cleaning rod. Would recommend this gun to anyone.

Love my RO. Shoots on target everytime, no problems hitting a 8 inch steel plate at 100 yards. And the customer service is the best in the industry. Ordered the kit with the mag holder and pistol holster. Being a lefty I called Springfield, explained I just bought the RO and needed a left hand holster. Sent one out 2 day at no cost.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience with this 1911. I managed to put about 300 rounds through it, zero problems. I noticed some where pretty far off so I decided to try it off of a bench. I averaged about an 8 inch group. I used different loads and still wasn't anywhere near "competition ready" accuracy. I called Springfield and they installed a whole new barrel. After receiving it back, I took it out and it wouldn't cycle. Extractor. Again, called Springfield and again they sent me a shipping label. After the extractor was tuned, I said "If I have any more issues my next range session, it's gone." Well, I sold it about a month ago. I see so many great reviews, so apparently mine was the exception to the rule.

I wanted a 1911 just for fun target shooting. I took this to the range along with my Glock 19. Compared to the Glock 19 this felt like a .22 as far as recoil goes. A awesome gun at a great price. Thanks for you layaway plan you made my 3rd 1911 possible.
