Was worried about not being able to pick out the wood stock I wanted. However when it arrived even the FFL was surprised how good the grain pattern and finish was. Like alway an outstanding transaction with buds

I have had terrible experiences lately with new rifles, the Benelli R1 had to go to a gunsmith for initial assembly (see any forum), the Savage MSR Patrol had to go back to Savage due to factory defect, and now this goose, the Remington 7600. I hated the 7600 the moment I picked it up out of the box. It feels cheap, like a daisy BB gun or a Henry .22 LR. The metal feels cheap and sounds cheap. The rear sight is far up front, so the sight radius is very short. But the scope will solve that, I suppose. There is no recoil pad to speak of, feels like a WWII metal battle rifle butt plate. .270 is supposed to be soft, but this is not what my expectation are. And if you want a synthetic stock, you have to buy after market. Also, no long front handguard screw, so if you want a sling, that is also after market. How cheap can Remington get?? The first magazine loaded and inserted, but would not feed a round. Winchester 150 gr, soft point. The top round hung up on the feeding ramp, and the rear of the round prevented full ejection... So I couldn't feed, couldn't eject and it was stuck bad. I had a heck of a time and many frustrated minutes fooling around trying to clear the jam. If the top round is on the left of the magazine, it feeds okay, but not on the right--so only 3 rounds are possible in the 4 round magazine. If this continues, this will have to go back to Remington. Another lemon for $650. The slide release blade is just that, a thin blade what will destroy your fingers, particularly when it is tight and new and when you have to try to release the slide when it is hung up. I've been having lots of bad experiences with Remington over the years, and now I know that I'm done with them. I was intrigued with the history and old guard reviews of the 7600 and wanted to have one, but now I regret having wasted good money. Buyer beware.
