Combining popular M&P characteristics with existing BODYGUARD features, the new M&P BG380 offers consumers a uniquely engineered, lightweight self-defense pistol. Compact, sleek and ergonomic, the M&P BG380 pistol benefits from new fish scale serrations on the rear of the slide for ease of use and like other M&P pistols, ships complete with two magazines. Chambered for .380 ACP, the lightweight sub-compact pistol features a high-strength polymer frame with a black, maximum corrosion resistant coated stainless steel slide and barrel. The new M&P BG380 is standard with a 2 ¾ inch barrel, which contributes to an overall length of 5 ¼ inches and an unloaded weight of only 11.85 ounces. Some thoughts for those on the fence about this gun because of the reviews being all over the place.

This is a small pocket gun. It is highly concealable and has a decent capacity for a tiny pistol. It feels very solid in the hand, but isn't heavy.

The trigger is long and heavy. This doesn't make for a super fun range gun, but it's very practical for a pocket gun. You really have to intend for this gun to go off. It even has a completely redundant thumb safety, which isn't needed at all for a long 12lb trigger pull. This gun gives you a lot of room for error which is great for CCW and pocket/purse carry. However, if you practice just a little bit, this gun is very accurate at 5-15 yards, perfect distances for personal defense. Nice smooth squeeze will give you 1-3 inch grouping under 20 yards.

Through 300 rounds and about 6 different types of ammunition (hardball, personal defense, hollow point), I haven't has a single jam or light hammer strike. I'm sure it can and will happen as with any semi-auto, but it has been very reliable.

For being so small, it actually feels pretty good in the hand. A little snappy, but very controllable (and I have fairly large hands being 6'3").

Overall, if you are looking for a solid, reliable and safe small personal defense pistol, this is an exceptional choice.

This is a great little weapon for the female of the household...relatively easy to handle although she has difficulty racking it from time to time...the other major complaint is the long trigger pull...I have fired about100 rounds through it and found it quite adequate at close range (7-10 yards). It isn\'t the best weapon I have ever fired and give it 4 stars because it is reliable and accurate at close range. Great concealed carry weapon.

This is the second Bodyguard in 380ACP that I own. The first one had issues with light primer strikes and blowback of hot powder on my forehead while shooting. Although the first one I purchased was junk, I read many positive reviews so I purchased another years later. When I picked mine up at my dealer, he mentioned the last guy that purchased one had to send his back 2 times for light primer strikes. When I took my new gun out to shoot, I experienced about a 10% chance that I would need to pull the trigger twice to get a round to fire. Totally unacceptable!!! This happened between my two guns with 3 different brands of ammo. I know that I can send back to S&W for repairs but one should not have to go through all that BS.

Great handgun to carry in your pocket. Feeds all ammo I have thrown at it.
