Very nice rifle.. I have already changed the stock to a Boyds thumbhole type and changed the trigger to the new Ruger BX trigger.. This was done before I fired the rifle, but I could tell a lot of difference from the stock trigger to the BX up grade.. The BX is a 2 lb. pull. The gun gets excellent groups at 50 yds.. that's as far as I have shoot it on paper so far. Best 3 shot groups were with Remington Thunderbolt with all 3 shots in one ragged hole.. this group was repeatable.. I am using a Mueller 4-12 x42 scope, adj. obj. very clear and holds zero.. had used scope on other guns and knew it is a reliable. The rifle feed and operated on all the brands of bullets I feed it.. This is a far better rifle then the Mag Research 22 rifle.. I had one of those in the past and it is very picky on what ammo you use and it jammed all the time.. It is no more accurate then the Ruger and I like the Ruger better as it has a heaver barrel for better tracking of moving targets..I did take the Ruger out last weekend and took out some jack rabbets a double running at about 75 yds.. I would recommend this rifle as it is a shooter.

Buds had a mixup with one of their warehouses and shipping on my gun was delayed. They did however compensate me.And all turned out well in the end.
As far as the rifle,it is a beauty. But a heavyweight!Definitely limited to bench shooting.
Accuracy is decent out of the box..Consistent 3/4" groups at 50 yrds.
But,the trigger is not the greatest. As far as I can tell it is not different from the plain stock Jane Ruger 10/22's.I took out the bolt and polished the reciever and did a home trigger job.Now I can get 1/2" groups.
It you want a tack driver,I recommend you put the $500 you are going to spend on this rifle towards aftermarket parts and you'll be happier.

I have owned many 10/22's in the past by far this one is the best 10/22 I have ever fired. The craftsmanship of this rifle is unbelievable it is flawless in every way possible. I mounted a nikon 3x9x40 on this rifle and sighted in at 50 yards after 3 rounds I was hitting a dime sized target every time I pulled the trigger most accurate rifle I may have had my hands on to date. Thanks to Ruger for a fine well built durable firearm and thanks to Buds for having such a wonderful selection of 10/22's and fast service as always.

Beautiful rifle, I finally have one. It shoots terrific, very accurate depending on the ammo.

Ruger spent a lot of time making the outside of this gun really pretty. It's a very attractive rifle, and the black and gray laminated stock is a perfect match.
The receiver was cleaned down and brushed in a very nice way to make it blend with the rest of this nice package.
The barrel is a monster, the hammer forge with the visible twist from the forming left on it makes it unique and eye catching.
This is one application of stainless steel that was perfect.

Now the bad news. For as nice as it is on the outside, the inside was just the inverse. The inside of the receiver was so rough that the bolt would hold itself open at full spring tension and at half retract.
When I picked it up, I took it home and gave it a good once over. The barrel was exceptionally dirty, I assume from the test firing, but they must have really done a lot of test firing.
The other possibility is that it had been sold to another customer and returned because of the bolt issue, then re-sold (to me)

Since I have several other 10-22 Ruger firearms and have done some extensive work on some of them, I decided to make it right.
I like a good challenge, so I tore it down and proceeded to mend Rugers sloppy ways.
First, after being cleaned properly, the barrel was a true work of art. Crisp and smooth. Really nice. I have great expectations for this to be a real long range tack driver.
The inside of the receiver had been bead blasted (or the equivalent) and was rougher than a dried up corn cob. That explains the bolt closing issue.
A couple of hours with some wool and polishing powder, it was slick as glass. It was cleaned up and re-assembled.

The rifle is super smooth in function now. I have ordered 5 different match ammo types to see what it will shoot best with, and it will be going to the range in a couple of days to see what it will really do.
I will post again with more info after that happens.

This is supposed to be an A grade target rifle right out of the box, but it needs some help getting there.
I would still recommend this rifle, but with a warning. You will need to spend some time getting it right, or spend some $$$ with a smith to get it into what I would consider an acceptable condition.
