Looks and feels good. Love the heavy barrel over my takedown TB a little more

Wanted to give this little rifle 5 stars because my family has always been a fan of the Ruger 10/22's. Their are a few reasons for not getting a full 5 stars. Before explaining those, here is what we notice. The good - The rifle is HEAVY -- that barrel is no joke. Feels like it could handle a million rounds, has a beautiful hammer forged look with twists on the outside. The black stock gives is that GRAY color-look that we had hoped for. Therefore, the gray and SS look great together. Very heavy duty barrel. Accurate - was hitting well on a paper target with no sites, once we put a decent scope on, bulls-eye is quickly removed from the paper - again, very nice shooter. The bad - still the same cheap ole magazines they've always used. Owned many, had them for years, they still don't seem to last more than a couple hundred rounds before they start jamming up. We have not learned the secret but found nothing in writing to support better reliability. Even the Ruger BX 25's (I think is the model line), constantly jam up in all 3 of our 10/22's, this rifle is no exception. Lastly, had to upgrade some of the more important components which completely transforms a Ruger 10/22 into something much more desirable. We specifically put the following minimum upgrades in our rifles and it DOES improve the shooting experience quite a bit. Partial List: Volquartsen Recoil Buffer, Volquartsen Sure Strike Firing Pin, Volquartsen Automatic Bolt, Volquartsen Exact Edge Extractor. Given the price - this rifle should have came with those components

I bought this for preditors on my ranch. The heavy target barrel should give greater accuracy out past 100 yards. In addition, when my grandson is old enough this will be the perfect rifle to teach him to shoot. The synthetic stock should hold up in all weather conditions and I am a fan of the ruger brand.

Great rifle. I added a Vortex scope, replaced trigger with a Tony Kidd. It is very accurate and produces tight groups consistently. It is also very beautiful; much prettier than the online photo. I love the stainless bull barrel. I am extremely happy with my purchase.
