Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!]
Buds gets all 5 stars for fantastic delivery and service. I get one star for not breaking this down and cleaning it before going to the range (though Ruger's videos say NOT to field strip the gun every time you shoot, so i thought I would bypass this step at first) and Ruger get's three stars for shipping this gun in a poor state.
Took the gun to the range and it jammed, a lot, in the first 50 rounds. Break-in, I get it. I put it away and didn't clean it, as I was headed back a day or so later, but did oil it up a bit at the gange and at home. The next time was much better. Rounds went through with only 2 jams out of 200. While the gun was cycling better, the front sight almost fell off. Thankfully I always bring a kit with me and I was able to screw it back down in place and it shot well at 40 yards.
Today, I break the gun down for a full cleaning. What do i find inside? A major piece of shaved machined metal and other metal dust. It wasn't hidden, it was just laying right inside the bolt. Also, the bolt is stainless, but mine didn't come smooth;y polished and is pitted in areas - like they stopped before they should have. Inside, the parts are similar, not smoothed down and rough is some parts - again the parts look like they were half polished.
While I think I have gone through the worst of it, I am severely disappointed at the lack of quality from Ruger. I had weighed buying a Browning Buckmark and wish I had at this point.
