This pistol is a great value. All the features you want on a 1911 (sans night sights) at an entry level price. Shot 450-500 rounds through the pistol with variety of magazines and I am completely satisfied with the performance. The fit and finish on this pistol are great. Do not be afraid to purchase this pistol if you are on the fence.

stunning trigger , fine piece , the look and fit are outstanding . the grips and finish are a work of great craftsmanship. will be wanting the 5 inch next . i have owned a lot of different 1911s from colts to para ord, but this is different and seems like a much more expensive piece than what it actually costs .

I've had some time now behind the trigger of this 1911 commander.

Those who are familiar with my reviews know that I've owned about all the major production 1911's.
So without boring everyone with the list, I'll keep this review short and sweet.
This is the best production 1911under $1000....

Ruger quality and workmanship. Accurate with everything from reloads to Hornady defensive hollowpoints. The two supplied magazines of also high quality polished stainless steel 7 rounders. This pistol also likes Wilson Combat mags and functions well with Sig 1911 mags as well. All around excellent buy for the money. It stacks up to some of the more expensive 1911's out there. If you are thinking of buying a base Government model Springfield Armory pick up this loaded Ruger instead.

In my 50 years + of shooting many different 1911's, even the vintage WWII Colts, I have never owned a finer 1911.

Not only is it a work of art, and I commend the Ruger gunsmiths for the quality it their trade, but it performs better than any 1911 I have shot right out of the box. I took this 1911 and cleaned it, with no other adjustments right to the range. It ate up every kind of ammo I had with me, including my lead ball reloads, and not one misfire or jamb. It grouped like it had been broke it, and accurized.

With every 1911 I have had before, I have had a problem with them feeding the tapered bullets of the hollow point defense loads. They want to feed only round ball, especially the Colts. I have owned a Colt that would feed anything, but round ball ammo.

I have to polish the feeding ramp to get them to feed all kinds of ammo. With this Ruger, I don't have to do anything to it.

Why pay thousands of dollars for name brand 1911's, when you can get the best in this Ruger for $700.00?

This is another example Ruger continues to put out a quality made firearm at a reasonable price.
