Besides being a nice looking 45ACP it is also a good shooter. Weight is not to bad but helps with the recoil. Sights are easy to get used to. Easy to take down and clean. Happy with my purchase.

I couldn't be more pleased with this pistol. The Combat Commander has been my go to pistol for decades. And Ruger has outdone themselves with this fine, affordable 1911 style handgun. Trigger is better than you'd expect. Sights are great for my 75 year old eyes. Accuracy is fine, and of course you can't beat the 45 ACP cartridge for stopping power. Only 8 round capacity? Well, I've always believed in the proverb that says "45ACP because shooting twice is just silly"! I got great service from Bud's. I highly recommend this pistol and Bud's Gun Shop.

A perfect 1911 for the money. The fit and finish rival more expensive pistols. Not overly tight and gives you the confidence that this is one reliable and accurate carry pistol.

Fit and finish are top notch, finish is better than the SA I own.
I've seen some people calling this a budget 1911, but the price and quality level puts it solidly in the middle tier, in my opinion. It's a great value if your looking for a commander. Not too cheap, not too expensive, all the features you'd need and nothing you don't. Cycles everything I've tried so far.

I , an avid Ruger fan and have been since my first single six bearcat 22 my dad bought me when I was 15 and now I own a full collection of Ruger rifles, pistols, and air rifles. I have had my eyes on this SR 1911 for 6 years, but hesitated because I felt this was going to be the last gun I would add to the collection. Buds had a great price, I had the wife convinced and I convinced myself this was the last gun,,, until it arrived and I felt the craftsmanship. It was an engineering masterpiece, the balance, weight, fit and finish was excellent. The rack was strong but not heavy. I put a Tipton 45 spring loaded cap in the chamber, lined up the Novak sights and pulled the trigger.the trigger broke at a smooth 4lbs with no creep. I liked this pistol, a lot. So much that I considered going shooting but unfortunately, I will have to wait. My bike is being delivered today and tomorrow is Father’s Day. That’s a family day. Just going to have to wait until next weekend to test fire this Ruger 1911, if it performs, like it looks and feels I may have to buy another SR 1911 commander. Or the target model. Maybe both!!!

Gun arrived in perfect condition for my 72nd birthday. After cleaning and oiling, I shot 120 rounds intermixing several different types of hollow points as well as two brands of FMJ's. I did not have any cast lead loads however. I used four different brands of magazines. Perfect functioning throughout. Accuracy was good though somewhat less than my five inch guns. I did get one surprising three inch group at 50 yards from a rest though. Tin can accurate for sure inside of 20 yards. Recoil a bit more noticeable than my bigger 1911's. The stainless finish has a lubricity that makes clean up easier it seems to me. Very good looking quality .45 pistol. Quick trouble free service from Bud's as always.
