Already bought one of this beauty, but read the handbook saying not designed for 7/8 oz or 1 oz shotshells, it suggested to use standard 1 1/8oz shells. I'm planning on using this gun for sports clays, wondering if it is ok to shoot 1 oz size 7.5 shells without any issue. Love the gun just want to make sure there is fine to use light shells.

The 1oz shells should be fine for clays. I have not had any issues with 1oz but did experience some hick ups with 7/8. The gas system is geared for the heavier payload shells but the 1oz is the absolute minimum you should shoot.

This gun is amazing. I did a lot of research before making my 3.5" order. Glad the SX4 is what I went with. Bud's makes this process so easy.

I have now used this gun for three years. And It has shot everything that I have put through it. from 2/34 in dove loads to 3.5 inch goose magnums. That's what you get with a gas gun. Very reliable. I have had some issues though. I have had to replace the bolt charging handle twice. And the second time bought an after market from briley's which seems to stay in a lot better. I have also had to replace the front sight as it fell out, and my dad's SX4 lost the front sight as well. So I replaced it with the sight from the browning maxxus and that worked well. The butt pad is soft and comfortable, but not durable and mine is pretty worn down and will need replaced soon. All in all I think it's a reliable gun, but could definitely use some better, longer lasting parts. Kind of a disappoint from the SX3. Great price and fast shipping. Always a pleasure to deal with Buds. So far no complaints what so ever with this shotgun. Well worth every penny. Shot light target loads with no cycling issues right out the box before being cleaned.

I really want to give this gun a bad review because of the stock. Winchester for whatever reason decided to put wood screws in a hollow channel to secure the recoil pad. Now, this is supposed to be a removable part so that you can clean the recoil spring and change the length of pull. Needless to say after removing those screws 3 times once to clean the recoil spring in the initial cleaning then twice more playing with the length of pull i am now having to glue the recoil pad to the stock. So im really not pleased with how winchester decided to design this part of the gun. That being said the shooting experience with this gun is fantastic! It will shoot everything from the cheap Wal-Mart federal shells to anything else you want.

Put it together and cleaned the factory gunk off,and lightly oiled it. I shot clays this weekend with it. Shot a box of 3” Winchester super x number 2 steel shot, and not a single hiccup. Then I started shooting Walmart cheapo 3 dram 8 shot. It had one failure to feed with the light loads pulling the trigger as fast as I could shoot three rounds. After that, no more issues shot about 150 more times. I was trying to get it to malfunction, and it wouldn’t. This shotgun is fast! Good clay buster. Lighter recoil compared to a Mossberg 930 with same shells loaded. Over all the sx4 has exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait until duck season. I would buy again in a heart beat. Very well built, nice and tight with no rattles. Very easy to reverse safety for a lefty like me. Identical to the sx3 and the new a5, takes 2 minutes to swap it over.

I love the gun. Took it out for the first time this weekend hunting ducks in coastal Louisiana. Shot well and zero hiccups in very wet, very muddy conditions. When I got home and broke it down for a thorough cleaning, I was surprised to see how well it ran given how dirty the internals were. My only somewhat negative comment is the recoil was more than I expected from a semi-auto shooting 3" number 2's. It was still manageable, but I'm used to running a pump and for me there wasn't a noticeable difference in recoil going from the pump to this gun. I attribute it to the SX4's relatively light weight.

Love it. Opened it up and took it apart to clean out the factory oil and switch the safety to a lefty. Took it out the next day and shot 120 low brass trap loads with zero hiccups. I tried to trip it up and couldn't do it, this gun is fast.
