Andrew, the sds lynx has 4 different settings. You have off and that won't allow any gas threw. Setting 1 is what you want for heavy loads. Setting two is for medium loads and setting 3 is for light bird shot type loads. So for your intended use id start with the first setting, if that doesn't work well try setting two. Hope this helps.

Is it legal in Illinois? I know Chicago and Cook County, and the Cities of Highland Park and Aurora have a ton of anti 2A laws but what about Lake County and the rest of the state

William, I'm pretty sure other than the states you mentioned you're good to go with this. But I'd double check with your local FFL dealer since they will have the most up to date laws. Sorry but hope this helps.

What did it mean by "will accept AK triggers with slight modification to the hammer" ? I'm wanting to purchase this and put the fostec echo AK trigger on it if I can

Keith, any semi automatic shotgun with a magazine capacity exceeding 6 rounds, or a folding stock or pistol grip is restricted in new jersey. Since this has a pistol grip it's not legal in new jersey. Sorry but hope this helps.

The Lynx 12 is the next evolution in 12 Gauge Kalashnikov-styled shotguns. This semi-auto shotgun is similar to the Russian IZ 109 AK shotgun in design but offers many more shooter-friendly features. The Lynx 12 interchanges with most Saiga parts like stick mags, handguards & muzzle devices. You can easily upgrade the rear stock to a tactical shotgun setup if you desire.

Hammer forged bolt for increased strength and long life. Any Saiga 12-style magazine is compatible. Chrome lined 19” barrel, 3” chamber, threaded M22x7.5 Left side scope rail for quick attach/detach scope mounts. Standard Right side charging handle. Bolt hold open button. Rear V with a bead front sight. Any aftermarket AK pistol grip will fit. Most AK standard stocks fit without modification (922r applies)

AK Safety. Standard AK triggers fit with only slight modification to the hammer. Barrel threaded for Saiga-style compensators. The front forearm can be replaced with Saiga rails and aftermarket forearms. Four-position gas system. Off, Low, Medium, and High.

Great shotgun for the money. Definitely exceeded my expectations. Mine would not cycle light target loads, but that's to be expected. Otherwise, it feeds and functions reliably.

Well built weapon but even after 200 rounds of 00 Buck she wouldn't run reliable with light loads (bird shot) weapon is 100% reliable with buckshot and high brass slugs.

I believe I only have 31 rounds through the Lynx 12 and have had multiple jams, one serious one where the bolt seized up and so I whacked the charging handle repeatedly with a mallet, but the others were easy to clear. I’m keeping in mind that it may need more tinkering with the gas setting and possibly a break in period, but I’ve had fun and plan to continue to have fun with it. I’ve placed a plug in one 5 round magazine to make it legal for hunting in the state I live in and took a couple chuckers and a turkey! I’ve used 2.75” birdshot and 3” turkey loads. Federal? I can’t remember which brand. Overall it works and have been having fun. I want to shoot it more, including trying buckshot and slugs. I’ve added a full choke for Saiga shotguns and the pattern appears to hit different for different loads. I’ve found with the turkey loads I hold the bead above the rear sight, other use it will hit too low. I’ve read that it he full choke will need to be removed to shoot slugs. One other modification I made was sanding down the cheek riser on the comb of the stock to make it more comfortable to shoot.

This shotgun is a bit rough around the edges, and the stock is absolutely terrible. However, if you're willing to spend $100 or so on a more comfortable stock, this is actually a pretty good shotgun. Reliability has been spectacular. I ran 50 rounds of Winchester buckshot through it with no issues. Then I loaded a Pro Mag drum with Fiocchi target loads. The shotgun cycled everything perfectly. Since then, I've fired mostly low brass target loads with both the factory magazine and my drum with no issue.

This shotgun is an absolute must. I've been partial to all 12 gauges for years now. This one fits the bill perfectly as an ak pattern shotgun for your collection. Don't look any further!!!

This thing is an absolute beast. I bought the upgraded gas system from Carolina shooter supply and still had trouble getting it to cycle bird shot but anything heavier than bird shot runs through this thing very well. I can't suggest it enough.

Great for the price. Really hard to sight and has a terrible stock. SDS’s magazines are almost pitiful and I’d recommend looking for better ones. Otherwise it’s a pretty good firearm.

It's a nice shotgun, comparable to a Saiga 12. The factory stock on it is a little short for my taste though, so I put a longer one on. Any stamped AK stock will fit.
