BERSA/TALON ARMAMENT LLC American Classic 1911 Commander 9mm 4.25" 9+1 Checkere - 4.25" Barrel, 9 Rounds

I bought this gun knowing it would not be a high quality item.It does function properly.The machining on this gun is horrible!The bushing to barrel fit couldn't be worse(like it's worn completely out) the slide is the worst I've ever seen on a gun.The groove in the slide for the ejector is so wide that they almost cut the disconnector notch out of it.I'm going to keep it and use it as a tool to show others what to expect when buying a cheapo gun.I am very happy with the service I have received from Buds Gun Shop.The piss poor quality of this gun is not the dealers fault.I will continue to do business with Buds in the future.

Well to start, This is the 3rd American Classic I've purchased from Buds. The Government in 9 mm & .45, Now this Commander. I love the first 2, HATE this one. I picked it up & as usual it was covered with oil, but I'm ok with that, it's normal. I inspected it, everything looked good, then I went to the range & the nightmare begins. I attempted to put 100 rounds down range. It was a failed attempt. I got 84 rounds thru it, before it LOCKED up. Of those 84 rounds, 76 were a Failure to Feed. The round would hit the feed ramp & stick. I tried 3 different mags / makers, Mec-Gar, including the one that came with the gun, Wilson Combat & Zenith, both 9 & 10 round mags. ALL mags had the same FTF issue. Round 84, after firing , the slide closed & jammed. I had to take it to a gunsmith to correct the problem & free up the slide. I used 115 grain Mag-Tec, Fiocchi & Blazzer Brass ammo, ALL ammo produced the same results & FTF. I ran the same mags thru my other 1911's, no issues, So I've rules out the mags & ammo. the common denominator is the gun. Another issue, Where-as with the first two Classic I purchased, the sights were spot on. This gun that are so far off, I'm not sure it can be fixed unless I have them removed, mill the slide & sight slot & install proper sights. at 5 yard, from a rest & even a gun vice, the gun hits an average of 4" low. If I focus & place the front sight dot, high over the rear sight dots, I can get close. If I don't user the sights or aim, I can probably do better. I also have the ATI Commander in 9mm, with over 3200 rounds & it has run flawless I have over 12,000 rounds thru my 9mm & 2700 thru the .45 version, all without any issues. I have several friends that have bought American Classics after shooting my Gov't 9mm. However, with this gun, It is currently a worthless paperweight.

Love this gun. Right out of the box, it shot spot on. Time will tell, but the first 4 mags through it, no issues.

The whole ordering process was excellent. The status udpates were timely, accurate and apprecicated. The firearm arrived well protected for shipping and met all expectations. I have cleaned and lubed it up and will be to the range as soon as possible.

The gun is great. As usual, Bud's had the gun in my hands in 3 business days, great service always. The slide is tight to frame with no slop but still runs smooth as glass, no FTF or FTE, flawless 50 rounds right out of case with no cleaning...nice fit and love the blued finish over "parkerized",.. absolutely pristine condition, not a mark on it. Comes with ONE mag only. The case this gun came with is ridiculous ! It's like a big plastic cordless drill case complete with a space for the battery. In fact a drill case might work better ! It does not fit this gun at all nor does it provide any space for holding extra mags without them flopping about in the case even though it has many spaces provided for "something". I believe the case was made for Metro's Long-slide gun with the optics and the huge grips. Give me an old fashioned cardboard box over this monstrosity anyday. So,I love the gun but I'm gonna' take off one-star for the crappy box from Metro.

This is my second purchase from Buds, as always it was a good experience. It was love at first sight. I couldn't deny feeling a bit skeptic about this gun, but i still took the chance and purchased it. Today, i went to the the range for the first time and shot about 150 rounds with no problems. Honestly, i expected lots of jamming and extraction problems ( due to the low price). To my surprise, this gun shot incredibly well and smooth. Very good factory trigger and many extras that only pricy guns come with. I sincerely recommend this gun,in fact, i will purchase another one, this time in 45 ACP.

There is a lot to like about this pistol. It came with many standard features that I would've added, had it not come with them, It was nice not to have to spend extra for such items as an extended slide release & safety, & easy to see sights. Comes with a nice blue finish, instead of the parkerized finish so common today. It has a tight slide to frame fit, but working the slide it was very smooth, actually the nicest of any 1911 I've owned. No feeding or ejection problems were experienced with factory ammo or my handloads ( FMJ, JHP or cast bullets ). I did have difficulty with the gun shooting low to point of aim. At 7 yds,distance, aiming dead center bullseye, would hit about 4" low. Kept trying to compensate by altering my sight picture, eventually had my gunsmith shave about .010" off the front sight and now shoots to pit of aim.While cleaning my pistol, noticed what I thought was leading in the barrel, but wasn't able to remove it.Took to my gunsmith & under magnification& bright light,wasfound to be a defect in the barrel. I attempted to contact the company (repeatedly, unsuccessfully) & then the repair facility to which I was directed.Learned I would have to return the entire pistol @ my expense for them to determine if it needed replacment. As pistol was less than a year old & not wanting to have to pay shipping, I chose to buy another barrel & have it fitted by my gunsmith.The pistol is now a very good shooter. I was disappointed in Metroarms warranty and lack of response when I tried (repeatedly) to talk with someone. The repair facility would only say you have to ship the entire pistol. .I won't buy another MetroArms product, due to their lack of customer support.
