Curious how stout the recoil is compared to a 12 Gauge ?

this will depend entirely on the specific load of each. Under normal circumstances, the .375 has a bit more recoil. By "normal" I mean with more "normal" shot shells compared to 3 or 3.5" Magnum loads. I don't think its the actual energy of the recoil as much as it is a different impulse between the 12ga and 375 loads. As to recoil impulse, the 375 H&H would be faster then any 12ga, 1260fps vs 2600fps, that's substantially more.

Hi Talbert, To me the recoil isn't that bad. My wife shoots this at the range without issue. It would depend what you were planning to shoot through it.

How is the recoil on this rifle? Also does a recoil pad help a lot ? Is this a good quality product?

Hi Talbert, It really isn't that bad. I own this model. It's a minimal kick. I doubt you need a pad for it.

Your shoulder better be ready for this horse! Man does it kick and have some blast. But it is a thrill to shoot! There are not a lot of ammo options out there, at this time Hornady is the only producers, and they make 2 different loads in 2 bullet weights currently, and it is pricey... But man is it powerful. Be mindful though that this rifle prefers the lighter bullet weights. The heavier load has a much more round tip and they tend to get hung up when feeding into the chamber. Not a huge deal, as long as you aren't out hunting in Africa at the time. A FANTASTIC price for getting into some real big bore power!

Sweet rifle. Early Christmas present from my wife! After firing several rounds at around 200 yards had 3/4 holes touching so I’m beyond happy with it. Will definitely be in the market for another Patriot in another caliber. 375 Ruger kicks like a mule, but it’s fun!

With a new Leopold mounted the shooting session was a super success. Zeroed in 5 shots and clover leaf in the bull was the next round. recoil is no joke but if you are used to handling large caliber guns it is no worse than other heavy hitters like the 416 etc. Don't make the mistake of using a short eye relief scope or your forehead will let you know about it pronto. For the price I can't imagine a better value on a heavy hitter like this anywhere but Bud's

Outstanding quality! For just over $300 there is no better rifle out there, let alone one chambered in .375 ruger. Bolt is as smooth as can be out of the box and overall the rifle is very well made. I have not shot it yet, but so far everything is well beyond my expectations for a $300 class rifle. Mossberg has really created a winner here folks, these new patriot rifles are the best bang for your buck.
