Description

The Uberti Cattleman Bird Head revolver recreates the styling that initially started with Colt Derringers in the early 1850’s. The style gets its name from the unique grip that resembles a ‘birds head’ when the gun is held upside down. Comfortable in the hand and very fast handling, this Uberti Cattleman revolver is perfect for today’s Cowboy Action shooting and old west recreational events.

This little baby is worth every penny I paid for it. Is very reliable and sweet to shoot. I take it with me hunting and when gone shooting. No problems or issues with this so far. Love it.

My 2nd single action from Uberti and love it. Looks beautiful. Feels great in the hand. Action is crisp. Timing is great. Not sure how I feel bout the safety features but that's a product of the times we live in. Looking forward to getting a 3rd from Uberti in the future.

What a great little Peacemaker!
I can only comment on the firearm I received from Buds in... well, order Monday, pick it up Friday... pretty quick.
The fit and finish are perfect. I mean perfect as in should have been marked "COLT" perfect. Its better than most Colt's I've seen, and I've seen a few.
The front sight is straight. I've put 100 rounds though the revolver and it shoots straight. Zero issues. For me it shot just a little low, but I was indoors, at 25 feet, so I really can't complain or offer suggestion. When I shoot it at 50 feet, I'll know if I need to adjust the front or not. I doubt it though as most guns shoot a bit low at close range.
The cylinder - which has a replaceable bushing I might add - fits perfectly. The correct amount of endplay, the correct gap at .006 - for smokeless powder. Black powder would be a bit larger gap. The timing is perfect. RUGER can you hear me? PERFECT TIMING from Uberti <-- Pay attention Ruger!
My revolver came with two screws for the base pin. It has a "thumbscrew" type, and a "screw in" type. Take your pick. The thumbscrew is handy, the screw in is more authentic. Both work as they ought to. The base pin fits snugly in the fame and in the bushing. The bushing fits snugly in the cylinder. Happy parts all. The ejector rod thumbpiece rotates out of the way of the base pin, so you can pull it free to clean.
The fit of the wood to the rear grip-frame portion is perfect. I mean perfect as in I could not have done a better job myself, and I've fit a few. PERFECT.
The fit of all the metal pieces to the frame is perfect, no gaps, not overhangs, no shy by a few .001's..... again Perfect.
The case colors are bold, and the frame, loading gate, trigger, hammer, trigger guard, grip section, and barrel are without blemish. The blued parts rival Colt's "Royal Blue".
No fasteners were molested.
The trigger pulll is crisp (to say the least!) and about 3 to 3-1/2 lbs (unmeasured, just by feel).
The sights are narrow taper front and U notch rear - old style, but workable. They worked for me anyway and I've got "7th decade of life eyes".
Now for the negative....
Had a few issues right from the get go with the safety/hammer/trigger/plunger arrangement. Had one light hit out of the first 50 shots. It was REALLY light too, barely hitting the primer. The trigger is a little funny when decocking or on "the last round" when loading one, skipping one, loading four... cock and lower the hammer. That sort of cleared up a bit, but I think there's a little fitting to do internally on the trigger arm and/or safety plunger in the hammer. While this detracts from the overall "perfect" of the pistol, I don't find it terribly annoying, as I'm capable of doing the work myself, and, may just revert things to "four clicks". Currently, there is hammer down, hammer in loading position, and full cock, with three clicks along the way. I'm too old school, having shot old Blackhawks (not New Model), and Colts that required you to use yer noggin to keep safe. And, by the way, no light hits on the last 50 rounds, so it might have been a "break in" thing.
Other than that light hit and trigger weirdness at first (and it didn't really effect later shooting), everything is beyond my wildest dream for a Uberti. I was able to keep 100 rounds in about a hand sized group without really trying. A few fliers, but hey... I was getting used to it.
GIANT THUMBS UP!!!! Thanks Bud's once again!

I'm a big 6 gun guy and own several. This is my first short barreled birdshead grip. Very nice. I highly recommend it as a carry pistol. Feels so much different in the hand. I'll be looking for another one soon.

This is such an amazing gun, yes I am biased as it is exactly what Ive wanted with me getting back into my nostalgic guns! While it is a single action, it’s beauty and feel are remarkable. I will be buying more Uberti and thank you to buds gun shop and Walser’s for making this such an easy transaction!

I like the look. But birds head grip a little small for me. But that was my fault. But still great service from buds as always.
