I have a bunch of 7 round magazines for a 1911. Would those work since this one holds 8 rounds.

Rod, Yes your 7 round 1911 magazines will fit and function just fine in this 1911.

Rod, yes Sir. The 8rd Magazines just have a slightly shorter follower to hold 8rds but, you 7 round 1911 standard magazines will fit and function just fine.

Rod, yes Sir, this 1911 can also use standard 7rd 1911 Magazines as well.

Every new Colt I've bought came with two mags. Be advised the stock photo is incorrect, the Gold Cup has a Bo-Mar style rear sight and magwell.

Only comes with 1 magazine. Colt is getting stringy unfortunately...

is the trigger plastic?

Colt has used polymer triggers on some models in the past. They've also used blackened aluminum. Generally, the polymer triggers seemed to have worked out fine. I can't find if this model has one or not. But that doesn't seem to be necessarily a reason to not get the pistol if you want it.

Irv, this Gold Cup Trophy has a 5-inch polished, stainless steel National Match barrel.

What is the difference between colt model 05070xe and model 05070gcl?

Irv - The Gold Cup Lite ( O5070GCL) does not have the checkering/lines on the front and back grip strap. The 05070xe does have (25 lpi) checkering/lines on the front and back grip strap. That is the only difference I am aware of between the two.

Very nice gun, the trigger pull is amazing quick reset exactly what the colt gold cup is about. No issues at all on the range . Put 100 rounds through it first day I picked it up. I love it.. will be one of my everyday carry’s beautiful gun.

Excellent pistol. I love the Colt 1911 I could not find the Goldcup Trophy anywhere until I checked Buds. The pistol operates flawlessly the accuracy is far beyond my shooting abilities. Buds service is second to none I have bought multiple pistols from Buds with absolutely no issues. I believe all the guns I have purchased from Buds shipped the day of purchase and my FFL was calling me two days later super fast shipping.

I just picked up my Gold Cup Trophy today! Bud’s shipped it to my local FFL retailer the day after I ordered it. No problems what so ever. This 1911 has been very hard to find but Bud’s had it on their website! 5 Stars to Bud’s. The Gold Cup Trophy arrived in perfect condition. I look forward to taking it to the range next week.

Really Really Nice Pistol. Great balance and excellent quality. I primarily have Kimber 1911’s and have decided to start collecting Colts. The only negative is it should come with 2 clips, but overall excellent investment for the money. I have purchased multiple firearms from Bud’s and they constantly have the best retail price that can be found online.

This pistol had been on my bucket list for some time. When I was finally able to get one, Bud's delivered. The fit and finish were beautiful as expected. Shooting it was a dream. I have never been so confident of putting the bullet right where I aimed very time. I fired 250 rounds with no failures of any sort. It is easily the most accurate handgun I own and very confidence inspiring. It is a dream come true and you will treasure your purchase from the moment you see it. I thought my revolvers in single action were the most accurate and I still love them but this 45 will be your favorite for all time. The trigger pull and balance are outstanding and easily it would be my go to gun shooting for money.

Honestly haven’t used it yet (every range I go to is closed due to the coranavirus), but I did receive it a couple days ago from my local FFL. Honestly it has a clean slick design, it’s a bit heavy, but nevertheless I really like it. Shipping was quick too.

Still early having only run about 300 rounds through it but seems to be all I wanted so far. When I went to my FFL holder to pick it up he said he was hoping I wouldn't show so he could buy it. I have changed the red fiber optic to yellow and installed new VZ grips with a full thumb cut but I can't think of anything else I would do to it. A big compliment from me. Once I get it broken in we'll see if I'm as good as I think I am. I won't be able to blame the pistol if I'm not.
