The XD Mod.2 5" Tactical Model packs 16 rounds of 9MM ammo in each of its two included stainless steel magazines. While it's a double stack design, it's not too thick to carry. This Tactical Model features a full five-inch hammer forged carbon steel barrel and is treated with Melonite to stand up to moisture, sweat, and other undesirable conditions over the long haul.The slide is made from Melonite-treated carbon steel too. Included is a Springfield High Hand grip near the beavertail and below the trigger guard allow you to put support close to the bore line to minimize muzzle flip. The GripZone contours and texturing are specifically designed to provide maximum purchase at specific points where your hands and fingers require the most contact. The sights are a fiber optic front paired with a low profile combat rear sight.

Awesome gun fits well in my hand, definitely my shooting gun with it being a 5" Barrell makes it very accurate but very difficult for concealed carry. Love Springfield line of firearms and would definitely recommend this pistol! 5/5

Well-built gun but I can't rave about it. First off, the trigger is creepy and heavy, not at all smooth like my Caniks and Walthers. The slide is much harder to rack than I like. The worst feature is the grip safety, which irritated the web of my shooting hand after a couple of mags. I enjoyed shooting this handgun but have to knock a couple of stars off for the aforementioned demerits. It's not a bad pistol but there are better choices out there. Still better than any Glock or Smith I've ever shot so that's the best I can say. As usual, Bud's came through with a good price and customer service. I've purchased several guns from Bud's and have always appreciated the layaway feature and the fast shipping.

The is my first Springfield and won't be my last. Performed perfectly out of the box, 50 rounds down the pipe with no malfunctions, excellent ejection pattern. The trigger is better than average with a 5.5-pound pull that breaks cleanly and resets nicely. The melonite carbon steel slide finish is impressive as are the internals, which exhibit close attention to detail. The so-called "grip zone" fits my hand well and provides good purchase, no Talon grips needed. The two steel magazines are well made and drop free with no snag. I'm not fond of the superfluous 1911-style grip safety, but I can live with it given the otherwise excellent attributes of this pistol. The fiberoptic front sight contributed to very good accuracy. This pistol is definitely a keeper. I opted for the 5-inch model over the 4-inch but it is still slim enough to carry. I've purchased several firearms from Bud's and, as always, pricing and customer service are first-rate.
