This is the first 1911 I’ve ever purchased. It was a great purchase. The trigger is so smooth and felt recoil is minimal, if not unnoticeable. I’m glad I purchased this gun. I’d highly recommend it.

I purchased one, and fell in love! This gun is a piece of art. its been a bit funny about what ammo it will feed on, but its getting better as i break it in. its a tack driver, and im surprised at how little recoil it has. i get more kick from my glock 30. i love it so much, ive had to get my dad one too lol not difficult to break down, clean, and reassemble. Do yourself a favor and get one!

Love Dan Wesson pistols- great triggers, super accurate, quality materials- custom guns at below custom price. This pistol, with the 6" bbl., easily tames the recoil of the 10MM round. I will use this for hunting so it will be digesting full power 10MM's. Another plus is it shoots to point of aim. Two of my 10MM's(Sig and Rem) I had to install taller front sights to lower group enough to be usable for hunting. I couldn't be happier except for one thing- disassembly and reassembly, especially the latter. There is no bushing or hole in the guide rod for disassembly ease. To take slide off, you have to hold the slide back against fairly substantial spring pressure and line up the slide stop with the notch in the slide and then push out the slide stop as you would normally with other 1911's. OK, a little tougher than normal but doable. Now, the tough part- reassembly. You have to barely engage the slide on the frame and then insert spring into the slide and grabbing the gov't. guide rod at the other end, push that against the 10MM spring pressure and try to compress the spring far enough to get the guide rod into the frame in the correct position as the guide rod wants to rotate while doing this. The spring isn't happy either as it keeps popping out of position. WHEW! Without a doubt, toughest 1911 ever I've reassembled. I usually clean my firearms after every use but this pistol may be an exception. The reassembly is difficult enough that I have to knock off a couple points. If you have weak hands, an almost impossible task.

I've heard some say that this gun "shoots as soft as a 9mm". That may be true if you are shooting light "FBI" rounds, but if you are shooting full-power Underwood ammo, there will be no mistake that you are still shooting a 10mm. Having said that, the heavy frame and long barrel manage the full-power rounds just fine. Disassembly and reassembly is a little awkward. It has a bushing-less bull barrel with a standard short (GI) guide rod that is completely enclosed by a reverse plug. There is no way to capture the recoil spring tension when field stripping. No bushings, no paper clips. You just have to hold the slide back with one hand while you remove the take-down lever with the other. When you re-assemble, you have to reverse this process while holding the recoil spring in place with one hand. It's a little awkward, especially at first, but isn't too bad after you have done it a couple times. The Black-T finish is a very dull, matte black, almost like a Parkerized finish, but more smooth. It's not as dark black satin as the Armory-Kote finish Springfield put on the standard (45ACP) 1911 TRPs. The trigger had just a little creep right out of the box, but smoothed out after a little break-in. The "Gen 2" triggers can be adjusted for over-travel using a screw that is only accessible from the rear of the trigger hoop, so you need to remove the trigger from the frame to make any adjustments. I'll probably replace the trigger with one that can be adjusted from the front. The "octo-grip" checkering on the front/back straps is comfortable, but doesn't offer as much grip as standard checkering. The VZ side panels have excellent grip and are very comfortable in the hand. Also, unlike previous Springfield TRPs, this one doesn't include a mag well. It doesn't come in a hard-sided foam case with a mag pouch, holster, or loader. Instead, it just comes in a soft-sided range bag. It's a nice range bag with lots of little handy compartments.

Just picked mine today. It has a tiny scratch between the frame and the slide. At the bottom front of the pistol. The slide rubbed the frame when sliding back and forth It wasnt Budsgunshop problem. The gun wasnt fit properly as it should

Hickok45 talk about Bud's Gun Shop all the time, so I thought I would give them a look. I'm glad I did. Very reasonably prices and fast service to my FFL. If anyone out there is looking to purchase a firearm, I would highly recommend giving Bud's a look first. Will be purchasing from Bud's in the not to distant future.

Solid performer. Shoots well right out of the box. The 6" super slide is a fun gun to shoot with recoil about like my 9's. Buy it - you'll like it.
